Entinostat enhances the efficacy of chemotherapy in small cell lung cancer through S-phase arrest and decreased base excision repair
CONCLUSIONS: In this study, we decipher the molecular processes behind synergistic interactions between chemotherapy and HDAC inhibition. Moreover, we report novel mechanisms to overcome drug resistance in SCLC, which may be relevant to increase the therapeutic success.PMID:37725585 | DOI:10.1158/1078-0432.CCR-23-1795

Lobar or sublobar resection for early-stage second primary lung cancer  ≤ 3 cm in size: a SEER population-based study
CONCLUSION: The OS of sublobar resection was not significantly different from that of lobar resection for early-stage SPLC. For SPLC with a 2-3 cm tumor size, lobar resection is more advantageous than sublobar resection.PMID:37725243 | DOI:10.1007/s00432-023-05396-5

SLC12A8 mediates TKI resistance in EGFR-mutant lung cancer via PDK1/AKT axis
CONCLUSION: SLC12A8 mediates TKI resistance in EGFR-mutant lung cancer via PDK1/AKT axis. These findings not only advance our understanding of the molecular mechanisms driving TKI resistance, but also offer novel alternative strategies for the treatment of lung cancer.PMID:37725242 | DOI:10.1007/s00432-023-05416-4

Sintilimab plus anlotinib as second- or third-line therapy in metastatic non-small cell lung cancer with uncommon epidermal growth factor receptor mutations: A prospective, single-arm, phase II trial
CONCLUSIONS: The combination of sintilimab and anlotinib demonstrated durable efficacy and was generally well tolerated in patients with NSCLC and uncommon EGFR mutations who had received prior standard-of-care treatments. (ClinicalTrials.gov identifier: NCT04790409).PMID:37723837 | DOI:10.1002/cam4.6548

Proteomic landscape of primary and metastatic brain tumors for heterogeneity discovery
CONCLUSIONS AND CLINICAL RELEVANCE: We characterized an extensive proteomic landscape of BrMs and gliomas. These findings have promising implications for the development of targeted therapies for BrMs and gliomas.PMID:37726528 | DOI:10.1002/prca.202300010

Nomogram based on clinical characteristics and radiological features for the preoperative prediction of spread through air spaces in patients with clinical stage IA non-small cell lung cancer: a multicenter study
CONCLUSION: The nomogram created in this study, based on clinical characteristics and radiological features, has a high diagnostic efficiency for predicting the STAS status in patients with clinical stage IA NSCLC and may support the creation of personalized treatment strategies before surgery.PMID:37724737 | DOI:10.4274/dir.2023.232404

ALDOC promotes non-small cell lung cancer through affecting MYC-mediated UBE2N transcription and regulating Wnt/ β-catenin pathway
In this study, immunohistochemistry was used to analyze the expression of aldolase, fructose-bisphosphate C (ALDOC) protein in tumor tissues and adjacent non-malignant tissues from 79 NSCLC patients. Our findings revealed that ALDOC was overexpressed in NSCLC tissues. ALDOC expression was associated with lymph node metastasis, lymphatic metastasis and pathological stage. In addition, Kaplan-Meier analysis showed that higher ALDOC levels were indicative of a poorer prognosis. Additionally, we observed elevated ALDOC mRNA levels in NSCLC cell lines relative to normal cells. To investigate the functional roles of ALDOC, we in...

Impact of liver metastases status on survival outcomes of first-line immunotherapy in extensive stage small cell lung cancer: a systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: First-line immunotherapy plus chemotherapy significantly improved PFS and OS in ES-SCLC patients without liver metastases compared to chemotherapy alone. However, patients with liver metastases did not experience comparable benefits.PMID:37724893 | DOI:10.18632/aging.205035

LncRNA AP000695.2 promotes glycolysis of lung adenocarcinoma via the miR-335-3p/TEAD1 axis
This study aims to verify and explore the mechanism of AP000695.2 in glycolysis of LUAD. Overexpression plasmid and siRNA are used to construct cell models of upregulation and downregulation of AP000695.2, respectively. AP000695.2 is highly expressed in lung cancer cell lines as revealed by qPCR. Western blot analysis, FDG uptake, lactate production assay and ECAR determination results show that high expression of AP000695.2 facilitates glycolysis of LUAD cells. CCK-8, EdU staining, Transwell and wound healing assays show that high expression of AP000695.2 promotes cell growth and migration of LUAD. The relationship betwee...
