Endoscopic therapies for patients with obesity: a systematic review and meta-analysis
ConclusionThis review is the first to evaluate various endoscopic bariatric therapies using only RCTs and observational studies for evaluation of weight loss compared with conservative management, lifestyle modification, and  bariatric surgery. Endoscopic therapies result in greater weight loss compared to lifestyle modification, but not as much as bariatric surgery. Endoscopic therapies may be beneficial as an alternative to bariatric surgery.

Study on the predictive significance of PLR, SII and RPR in ovarian endometriotic cyst
Conclusion: PLR, RPR and SII are related to the staging of ovarian endometriotic cyst, and SII has a certain predictive value for the recurrence of ovarian endometriotic cyst after surgery.PMID:37724384 | DOI:10.3760/cma.j.cn112141-20230504-00200

Prospective diagnostic test accuracy of uterosacral ligament and torus uterinus endometriosis using transvaginal ultrasound posterior approach
CONCLUSION: We observed high diagnostic test accuracy of the examined standardized TVS technique for assessing DE of USLs and TU. More studies evaluating this technique should be performed, particularly with less trained observers, before considering this technique as the standard approach. Postoperative inflammatory response in colorectal cancer surgery: a meta-analysis
ConclusionThe findings of this study indicate a superior inflammatory profile for laparoscopic surgery compared to an open approach for colorectal cancer surgery. For future research, it would be worthwhile to conduct a randomized controlled trial to compare the postoperative inflammatory response and related clinical outcomes between minimally invasive surgical approaches, including laparoscopic and robot-assisted surgery.

Robotic-assisted versus laparoscopic incisional hernia repair: a systematic review and meta-analysis
ConclusionThe robotic approach for incisional hernia repair was associated with a significant difference between the two groups in complications and recurrence rates, a longer operative time than laparoscopic repair, but with a shorter length of stay.

Imaging manifestations of wandering spleen with torsion
We present a case of a male patient admitted to the emergency department with vomiting, nausea, and persistent lower abdominal pain. Computed tomography and ultrasound were performed and were used to diagnose a wandering spleen with torsion leading to splenic infarctions. Subsequently, laparoscopic surgery and pathology confirmed this diagnosis. WHY SHOULD AN EMERGENCY PHYSICIAN BE AWARE OF THIS?: Ultrasound and computed tomography scans play a significant role in diagnosing WS and its complications, allowing an emergency physician to establish treatment options for WS.PMID:37716902 | DOI:10.1016/j.jemermed.2023.06.003

Prehabilitative versus rehabilitative exercise in prostate cancer patients undergoing prostatectomy
CONCLUSION: Pre-surgical exercise enhanced strength and function, protecting against post-surgery declines. Although exercise post-surgery is beneficial for recouping strength and function, where possible men undergoing prostatectomy are encouraged to exercise pre-surgery.TRIAL REGISTRATION: ACTRN12617001115325 registered 31 July 2017.PMID:37712960 | DOI:10.1007/s00432-023-05409-3
