COVID-19 in transplant recipients: Multicentric report of Mexican experience
CONCLUSIONS: Transplant recipients show a higher fatality rate and complications from SARS-CoV-2 infection; more studies are needed to identify prognostic factors and effective anti-SARS-CoV-2 therapies.PMID:37669570 | DOI:10.24875/ACM.21000113

Inflow Artery Aneurysmal Degeneration After Long Term Native Arteriovenous Fistula for Haemodialysis
CONCLUSION: Aneurysmal degeneration of the inflow artery is an unusual complication during long term follow up of AVFs. Aneurysm excision and, in general, autogenous graft interposition using the saphenous or ipsilateral arm vein is a safe and effective strategy.PMID:37659740 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejvs.2023.08.063

Intraoperative Renal Replacement Therapy in Orthotopic Liver Transplantation
Adv Kidney Dis Health. 2023 Jul;30(4):378-386. doi: 10.1053/j.akdh.2023.03.003.ABSTRACTAcute kidney injury in patients admitted to the hospital for liver transplantation is common, with up to 80% of pretransplant patients having some form of acute kidney injury. Many of these patients start on dialysis prior to their transplant and have it continued intraoperatively during their surgery. This review discusses the limited existing literature and expert opinion around the indications and outcomes around intraoperative dialysis (intraoperative renal replacement therapy) during liver transplantation. More specifically, we disc...

Identifying the barriers to kidney transplantation for patients in rural and remote areas: a scoping review
CONCLUSIONS: Patients in regional, rural, and remote areas face many additional barriers to kidney transplantation, which are predominantly associated with the need to travel or relocate to access required medical testing and transplantation facilities.PMID:37656389 | DOI:10.1007/s40620-023-01755-0

The impact of pretransplant suspected HLA antibody on the long-term outcome of the graft kidney: A retrospective cohort study
CONCLUSION: KTRs with suspected HLA antibodies before kidney transplantation have worse graft function than the preoperative HLA antibody-negative recipients in the long-term posttransplant follow-up. The specific load capacity of HLA mismatches, the age of the recipient and the urinary protein was found to be negatively correlated with long-term posttransplant renal outcomes. It is necessary to undergo further HLA specificity analysis for recipients with suspected HLA antibodies in HLA antibody screen test to explicit HLA mismatches and improve long-term posttransplant outcomes.PMID:37657691 | DOI:10.1016/j.trim.2023.101922
