Cardiorenal Biomarkers, Canagliflozin, and Outcomes in Diabetic Kidney Disease: The CREDENCE Trial
CONCLUSIONS: Multiple cardiorenal stress biomarkers are strongly prognostic in people with type 2 diabetes and albuminuria. Canagliflozin modestly reduced the longitudinal trajectory of rise in each biomarker. Change in the biomarker level in addition to the baseline level augments the primary outcome prediction.REGISTRATION: URL: https://www.CLINICALTRIALS: gov; Unique identifier: NCT02065791.PMID:37603600 | DOI:10.1161/CIRCULATIONAHA.123.065251

Pharmaceutical care model in precision medicine in China
Farm Hosp. 2023 Aug 17:S1130-6343(23)00095-8. doi: 10.1016/j.farma.2023.07.004. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPharmacy service is to provide individualized pharmaceutical care for patients, which should follow the current evidence-based pharmacy, and constantly verify the evidence and then produce new evidence. In pharmaceutical care, differences are often found in the efficacy and adverse reactions of drugs among individuals, even within individuals, which are closely related to patients' genetics, liver and kidney functions, disease states, and drug interactions. Back in the 1980s, therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) has b...

Creatine and Creatinine Quantified using Nuclear Magnetic Resonance: A Method Validation Study and Clinical Associations Between Circulating Creatine and Fatigue in Kidney Transplant Recipients
CONCLUSION: An NMR method for measurement of circulating creatine and creatinine which offers the potential for accurate and efficient quantification was developed. The found associations indicate that improving creatine status may play a beneficial role in mitigating fatigue.PMID:37591418 | DOI:10.1016/j.cca.2023.117517

"Hi, How Can I Help You?" Embracing Artificial Intelligence in Kidney Research
Am J Physiol Renal Physiol. 2023 Aug 17. doi: 10.1152/ajprenal.00177.2023. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIn recent years, biology and precision medicine have benefited from the major advancements in generating large-scale molecular and biomedical datasets and in analyzing those data using advanced machine learning algorithms. Machine learning applications in kidney physiology and pathophysiology include segmenting kidney structures from imaging data and predicting conditions like acute kidney injury or chronic kidney disease using electronic health records. Despite the potential of machine learning to revolutionize nephrol...
