Comparison of Health-Related Quality of Life Changes in Prostate Cancer Patients Undergoing Laparoscopic versus Robotic-Assisted Laparoscopic Radical Prostatectomy: A Systematic review
CONCLUSION: Both robotic-assisted and laparoscopic radical prostatectomy are valid treatment options to achieve a good quality of life following surgery. The intermediate and long-term results in regard to QoL are comparable between the two procedures. RALRP might be superior to LRP in terms of immediate health-related quality of life, which might contribute to early recovery of urinary function.PMID:37727913 | DOI:10.22037/uj.v20i.7707

Polycystic Kidney Disease Diet: What Is Known and What Is Safe
Clin J Am Soc Nephrol. 2023 Sep 20. doi: 10.2215/CJN.0000000000000326. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAutosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) is a genetic disorder characterized by kidney cyst formation and progressive kidney function loss. Dietary interventions such as caloric restriction, intermittent fasting, and the ketogenic diet have recently emerged as potential strategies to induce metabolic reprogramming and slow ADPKD progression. We review the available evidence supporting the efficacy and safety of these interventions in ADPKD. Dietary interventions show promise in managing ADPKD by improving metabo...

A cross-sectional quality assessment of TikTok content on benign prostatic hyperplasia
ConclusionBPH videos on TikTok have a wide reach, but the videos are mostly of low quality and completeness. Future videos should be made with quality and completeness in mind given the large viewership and more can be done to evaluate the extent of BPH misinformation and its impact on patients.

Clinicopathological Features and Outcomes of IgA Nephropathy with Serum Antineutrophil Cytoplasmic Autoantibody Positivity
CONCLUSION: The clinical, pathological features and prognosis of ANCA-positive IgAN patients were similar with ANCA-negative IgAN patients except for higher ANA positive rate, milder renal inflammation and less immune depositions. ANA positivity was an independent risk factor for adverse renal outcomes in ANCA-positive IgAN patients.PMID:37725925 | DOI:10.1159/000533982

Racial Disparities in End-Stage Kidney Disease Outcomes Among Asians and Native Hawaiians and Other Pacific Islanders Across Geographic Residence
CONCLUSION: In the Mainland, Asians and NHOPIs had lower mortality vs. White patients, whereas in Hawaii/PIs this survival benefit was diminished in Asians and mitigated in NHOPIs. NHOPIs and Asians in Hawaii/PIs had less transplantation vs. those in the Mainland. Further research is needed to uncover factors contributing to differential ESKD outcomes among Asians and NHOPIs across geographic residence.PMID:37725913 | DOI:10.1159/000534052
