The Importance of Follow-Up and Evaluation of Intraoperative Findings to Determine Surgical Indications for Retractile Testis
CONCLUSION: Patients with ascending testis and acquired undescended testis have clinical features and intraoperative abnormal findings similar to a cryptorchidism. Therefore, our surgical indication for retractile testis is considered appropriate.PMID:37720542 | PMC:PMC10504044 | DOI:10.1155/2023/8764631

Pippi is lost - what do we do? Conservative treatments for female urinary incontinence - a practical report based on the current S2k guideline for urinary incontinence
Aktuelle Urol. 2023 Sep 18. doi: 10.1055/a-2145-2526. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTFemale urinary incontinence can occur at any age. There is a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic tools, the application of which is based on the patient's suffering and the motivation for therapy. Conservative measures should be considered before surgical treatment of incontinence. Professional diagnostic testing and well-founded advice can give every affected woman the chance of individualised treatment. The aim of this article is to formulate practical and patient-oriented tips from the point of view of a clinician.PMID:37722410 | DO...

Monitoring strategy of COVID-19 vaccination in dialysis patients based on a multiplex immunodot method: The CovidDial study
CONCLUSION: Three doses of mRNA-1273 vaccine induce a robust but time-limited immunologic response in dialysis patients. Lower anti-spike antibodies titers after initial vaccination are associated with a higher risk to subsequently contract SARS-CoV-2, even beyond 6 months.PMID:37718617 | DOI:10.1111/sdi.13175

Outcomes of Hospital-Acquired Hypernatremia
CONCLUSIONS: Hospital-acquired hypernatremia is associated with in-hospital mortality as well as discharge to hospice or to nursing facility in all stages of CKD.PMID:37722368 | DOI:10.2215/CJN.0000000000000250

Nurse Practitioner Care Compared to Primary Care or Nephrologist Care in Early CKD
CONCLUSIONS: Nurse practitioner care for patients with CKD was associated with better guideline-concordant care than primary care alone or nephrologist care, with clinical outcomes that were better than or equivalent to primary care alone, and similar to those with care by nephrologists.PMID:37721865 | DOI:10.2215/CJN.0000000000000305

Real-world clinical outcomes of patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma receiving pembrolizumab  + axitinib vs. ipilimumab + nivolumab
CONCLUSIONS: Our study provides insight into newer mccRCC treatment tolerability and effectiveness in the real-world US community setting. Our real-world results were comparable to data from clinical trials, which is encouraging for mccRCC patients.PMID:37722984 | DOI:10.1016/j.urolonc.2023.08.009

Peritoneal Dialysis Patient Training Program to Enhance independence and Prevent Complications: A Scoping Review
CONCLUSION: There are a variety of strategies for dialysis training concerning duration, session length, patient-to-trainer ratio, timing, methods, location, compliance, and the need for retraining. More evidence is needed to assess the impact of PD patient training programs on self-care capabilities and peritonitis incidence. Future studies should investigate the effects of training programs on compliance, self-efficacy, and patient and nurse perspectives.PMID:37720493 | PMC:PMC10505035 | DOI:10.2147/IJNRD.S414447

Baseline prostate health index risk category and risk category changes during active surveillance predict grade reclassification
CONCLUSIONS: Baseline PHI risk category and PHI changes over time were both independent predictors of GR after confirmatory biopsy, but the added benefit over PSAD seemed modest. However, baseline PHI and PHI risk category changes provided clinically useful risk stratification for time to GR, so further evaluation of PHI's ability to help reduce the frequency of mpMRI and/or surveillance biopsies with more PHI data points over time may be warranted.PMID:37722985 | DOI:10.1016/j.urolonc.2023.08.011

Impact of thrice-weekly cotrimoxazole prophylaxis on creatinine and potassium plasma levels in kidney transplant recipients
CONCLUSIONS: Our study pinpoints the impact of CTX 800/160 thrice-weekly on creatinine and potassium levels in kidney transplant recipients. This should be considered when interpreting the evolution of plasma creatinine over time, especially in patients with graft dysfunction. Thus, creatinine levels of cohorts with 6 months versus lifelong CTX require different interpretations.PMID:37715935 | DOI:10.1007/s40620-023-01773-y

Characteristics of Complement Protein Deposition in Proliferative Glomerulonephritis with Monoclonal Immunoglobulin Deposition
CONCLUSIONS: The complement system was found to be overactivated in PGNMID, and levels of urinary complements correlated with disease severity. A higher level of urinary C4d was identified as an independent risk factor for kidney failure.PMID:37713183 | DOI:10.2215/CJN.0000000000000295
