Initial psycho-oncological counselling in neuro-oncology: analysis of topics and needs of brain tumour patients
AbstractDiagnosis of a brain tumour is associated with a tremendous disruption of emotional, physical and social well-being. Due to the complexity of the disease and the affection of the central organ, the brain, brain tumour patients differ from other cancer patients. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the concerns and burdens presented by brain tumour patients during their initial psycho-oncological consultation. We performed a retrospective analysis of 53 patients with the diagnosis of either benign or malignant brain tumour, seeking counsel by a neurosurgeon specialised in psycho-oncology. We performed a themati...

The role of frameless stereotactic biopsy in contemporary neuro-oncology: molecular specifications and diagnostic yield in biopsied glioma patients
ConclusionsA formally complete diagnosis according to 2016 CNS WHO was achieved in the majority of cases. The biopsy cohort showed a prognostically unfavorable distribution of diagnoses and molecular features. Frameless stereotactic biopsy seems to be confirmed as a useful diagnostic tool in contemporary neuro-oncology —however, certain potential limitations should be considered.

Initial Impairment and Recovery of Vision-Related Functioning in Participants With Acute Optic Neuritis From the RENEW Trial of Opicinumab
Conclusions: Most participants in the RENEW PP population demonstrated substantial recovery from baseline in patient-reported vision-related functioning and HCVA, regardless of treatment and structural damage. Average scores after recovery remained lower than those of published disease-free control groups. These results provide important information on visual function recovery in patients with AON, as measured by NEI-VFQ-25 and NOS-10.

Between-hospital variation in mortality and survival after glioblastoma surgery in the Dutch Quality Registry  for Neuro Surgery
ConclusionsHospitals vary more in late survival than early mortality after glioblastoma surgery. Widely varying biopsy percentages indicate treatment variation. Patient-related factors have a stronger association with overall survival than hospital-related factors.

Advancing neuro-oncology of glial tumors from big data and multidisciplinary studies
ConclusionWe envision that a comprehensive understanding of the link between molecular signatures, tumor locations, and patients ’ history will identify a molecular taxonomy of glial tumors to advance the improvements in early diagnosis, prevention, and treatment.

Origins of Cerebral Edema: Implications for Spaceflight-Associated Neuro-Ocular Syndrome
Conclusions: Using the pathophysiology of cerebral edema as a model, hypotheses can be inferred as to the etiology of ODE in SANS. Further studies are needed to determine the presence and contribution of local vascular stasis and resulting inflammation and oxidative stress to the pathophysiology of SANS.
