Family support is pivotal in the treatment of schizophrenia
Research reveals that most caregivers of people living with schizophrenia are family members (94 percent), and oftentimes, the journey of the caregiver can be just as challenging as that of the patient, whether they’re newly diagnosed or have been managing the condition for years. As they navigate the journey together, it’s important that patients have a Read more… Family support is pivotal in the treatment of schizophrenia originally appeared in KevinMD.com.

Cytochrome P450 Mediated Cyclization in Eunicellane Derived Diterpenoid Biosynthesis
Angew Chem Int Ed Engl. 2023 Sep 21:e202312490. doi: 10.1002/anie.202312490. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTTerpene cyclization, one of the most complex chemical reactions in nature, is generally catalyzed by two classes of terpene cyclases (TCs). Cytochrome P450s that act as unexpected TC-like enzymes are known but are very rare. Here, we genome-mined a cryptic bacterial terpenoid gene cluster, named ari, from the thermophilic actinomycete strain Amycolatopsis arida. By employing a heterologous production system, we isolated and characterized three highly oxidized eunicellane derived diterpenoids, aridacins A-C (1-3), that...

Photocatalytic Free Radical-Controlled Synthesis of High-Performance Single-Atom Catalysts
In this study, we present a straightforward approach for preparing SACs utilizing a photocatalytic radical control strategy. Notably, we demonstrate for the first time that radicals generated during the photochemical process effectively hinder the aggregation of individual atoms. By leveraging the cooperative anchoring of nitrogen atoms and crystal lattice oxygen on the support, we successfully stabilize the single atom. Our Pd1/TiO2 catalysts exhibit remarkable catalytic activity and stability in the Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction, which was 43 times higher than Pd/C. Furthermore, we successfully depose Pd atoms o...

Factors Related to Expectations in Individuals Waiting for Total Knee Arthroplasty
CONCLUSIONS: This questionnaire reliably measures patient expectations before TKA; however, further research is needed. Although we anticipated younger age to be related to higher expectations, higher function prior to TKA appears to be more strongly associated with higher expectations.PMID:37736415 | PMC:PMC10510534 | DOI:10.3138/ptc-2020-0141

Evaluating a Wearable Solution for Measuring Lower Extremity Asymmetry During Landing
CONCLUSIONS: Our findings show acceptable agreement between impact acceleration and accelerometer-based COM acceleration and lack of agreement between impact accelerations and accelerometer-based tibial acceleration asymmetries. COM acceleration could be used to quantify landing impacts during rehabilitation, but we do not consider the accelerometer-based asymmetry measures to be a suitable alternative for force plate-based measures. Future work should focus on determining normative values for lower extremity asymmetries during landing tasks.PMID:37736414 | PMC:PMC10510545 | DOI:10.3138/ptc-2021-0086
