Cancers, Vol. 15, Pages 4619: Repurposing Clemastine to Target Glioblastoma Cell Stemness
hristopher J. Pirozzi Yiping He Brain tumor-initiating cells (BTICs) and tumor cell plasticity promote glioblastoma (GBM) progression. Here, we demonstrate that clemastine, an over-the-counter drug for treating hay fever and allergy symptoms, effectively attenuated the stemness and suppressed the propagation of primary BTIC cultures bearing PDGFRA amplification. These effects on BTICs were accompanied by altered gene expression profiling indicative of their more differentiated states, resonating with the activity of clemastine in promoting the differentiation of normal oligodendrocyte progenitor cells (OPCs) into mat...

This angry Dad went viral after blowing $1,200 on Disneyland tickets, blasts company as the ' biggest money printing machine on earth '
If you have a kid who’s dying to go to a Disney theme park, you may want to persuade them otherwise — for your wallet and for your sanity. Mario Zelaya recently posted a TikTok about the 1,100 euros (about $1,200) he spent on tickets for his family’s visit to Disneyland Paris. “I made a huge…#disney #mariozelaya #tiktok #disneylandparis #nonerich #jeffbezos #zelaya #goofy #bruno #encanto

My First MDMA Journey (Solo)
Yesterday I had my first MDMA journey, alone. I had planned to do it about two weeks in advance, knowing it was going to be a big deal for me. It was not what I expected. But I think it was the most remarkably life-shifting experience I’ve ever had. I can tell it changed me profoundly. The short version is that it was like having my higher self embody me fully for 8-9 hours, letting me feel HIS feelings, hear HIS thoughts, speak with HIS voice, understand HIS perspective, and experience HIS energy. No, it wasn’t LIKE that. It was EXACTLY that. Here’s the more detailed version: I got up early that...

I ' m sick of people blaming me for my student-loan debt. It ' s not all my fault
Getty Images I'm often blamed for complaining about my student-loan debt. But I was never taught financial literacy, and I built up debt as a kid based on misguided advice. I was trained to believe the more expensive colleges were better. After a three-year pause, my student-loan repayments are…#airbnb #emersoncollege

Proliferation and migration of ML1 follicular thyroid cancer cells are inhibited by IU1 targeting USP14: role of proteasome and autophagy flux
Front Cell Dev Biol. 2023 Aug 30;11:1234204. doi: 10.3389/fcell.2023.1234204. eCollection 2023.ABSTRACTUSP14 is a deubiquitinating enzyme involved in protein degradation by interacting with the proteasome and removal of poly-ubiquitin chains on target proteins. USP14 can influence cellular processes such as cell survival, DNA repair, ER stress, endocytosis, and the inflammatory response. USP14 further plays a role in tumor growth, and the inhibition of USP14 by compounds such as IU1 may affect cancer cell migration and invasion. Here we have studied the mechanisms for the action of IU1 in ML1 follicular thyroid cancer cell...

The Times They Are A-Changing … .Fast
By KIM BELLARD If you have been following my Twitter – oops, I mean “X” – feed lately, you may have noticed that I’ve been emphasizing The Coming Wave, the new book from Mustafa Suleyman (with Michael Bhaskar). If you have not yet read it, or at least ordered it, I urge you to do so, because, frankly, our lives are not going to be the same, at all.  And we’re woefully unprepared. One thing I especially appreciated is that, although he made his reputation in artificial intelligence, Mr. Suleyman doesn’t only focus on AI. He also discusses synthetic biology, quantum computing, robotics, and new energ...

Gaming, DEI, and Equal Opportunity
Gaming consultant Bill Pascrell III has a story to tell. “More than a decade ago, I did a panel at ICE on diversity. You don’t ever call a white guy a minority, but I was the only white kid in my kindergarten class – that gives me sensitivity to what minorities go through,” he said. Detection of fungi in the airways of horses according to the sample site: a methodological study
AbstractFungal detection in equine airways may be performed on either tracheal wash (TW) or bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) by either cytology or culture. However, method comparisons are sparse. Our objective was to determine the prevalence of fungi in airways of horses according to the sample site and laboratory methodology. Sixty-two adult horses, investigated in the field or referred for respiratory disease, were included. Tracheal wash, and BALF collected separately from both lungs, were collected using a videoendoscope. Fungi were detected in cytologic samples examined by light microscopy, and by fungal culture. H...
