Preventive cardiology : Cost of happiness is one Dollor !
It costs just one Dollor ! Harvard school of Public health has  recently  published some  hard data about  the adverse effects of bad diet habits especially the impact of  soft drinks on long term cardio vascular health. Another prestigious journal confirms it . . . The ultimate journal for the cardiologists Circulation reaffirms it . We  have overwhelming evidence , prolonged use of soft drinks increase CAD (Like tobacco ). Still , we haven’t added the customary caution on the bottles of these soft drinks ? Why  ? A tribute to a great cardiologist from Grady !
Today , we  post cases for coronary angiogram , just like sending clients to breakfast table ! Close your eyes. Think for a moment. It is heartening to know how cardiac catheterization grew from a humble beginning . We know , Forssman , Cournand  and Richardson  who shared the Nobel price  for Inventing  cardiac catheterization in 1930s . Soon after it’s  invention it was criticized by most, few ridiculed it outright , few others wondered about it . One man from the iconic  Grady memorial hospital  , attached to Emory silently  adopted this  procedure and almost single-handedly  did more than 1500 cardiac ...

Cardiology Group Withdraws ‘Choosing Wisely’ Recommendation
In the end it wasn’t wisdom for the ages. The American College of Cardiology said today that it was withdrawing one of its five recommendations in the “Choosing Wisely” campaign.  In 2012 the ACC recommended that heart attack patients should have only their culprit artery unblocked. It said that patients and caregivers should question whether complete revascularization of all nonculprit lesions in heart attack patients should be performed. The original recommendation was based on non-randomized studies suggesting that treating all significantly blocked vessels in heart attack patients could be harmfu...

Interventional Cardiologists Face Major Obstruction In Treatment Of Total Blockages
–Deep divisions over how CTO patients should be treated. In recent years ambitious interventional cardiologists have started to perform PCI on chronic total occlusions (CTOs), though these lesions have long been recognized as among the most difficult to successfully treat. Many other physicians, including some prominent interventional cardiologists, have expressed grave concerns about this expansion...Click here to continue reading...

What Do Working Cardiologists Really Think About the ACC's CMP Pathway?
What do US cardiologists and electrophysiologists REALLY think about the American College of Cardiology's (ACC) heavily-promoted collaboration with the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) to create their "Continuous Maintenance Pathway" (CMP) for continually maintaining their ABIM board certification? That's a question I wanted to know, so I helped create a quick 5-minute survey on the

I don ’t care what your cardiologist says
Yeah. I said it. As an anesthesiologist, especially as a cardiothoracic anesthesiologist, there are few things I am more interested in than how well or how poorly your heart functions and why.   And a cardiologist can help me obtain a lot of vital information in that regard.  But there several things a cardiologist cannot, and […]Find jobs at  Careers by KevinMD.com.  Search thousands of physician, PA, NP, and CRNA jobs now.  Learn more.

The hug that reminded a cardiologist of the joy in medicine
The cardiologist was called STAT to the ED for a 50-year-old man with an acute STEMI. The man arrested eight times in the ED, each time successfully resuscitated. He finally stabilized to where he could be moved to the cardiac cath lab. The cardiologist quickly met with the wife and told her the plans and […]Find jobs at  Careers by KevinMD.com.  Search thousands of physician, PA, NP, and CRNA jobs now.  Learn more.

FAME 3 fails to defame CABG, cardiologists need not worry though !
News: Series of clinical trials fail to clear the ongoing confusion in the business of cardiac revascularization.FAME 3 is the new addition.  Caution: A non-academic journal review There is no secret, about this cold war happening in an incognito mode for territorial rights between cardiologists and cardiac surgeons in glamorous cardiac suits for the past two decades. Of course, we keep believing this is a friendly fight in the overall interest of CAD patients. The ultimate winner should be the patient, not anyone else. Will that happen? Will anyone will allow that to happen? I am not sure. The FAME3 is a stu...
