Building the evidence for CRPS research from a lived experience perspective

Risk factors for post ‐treatment complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) – an analysis of 647 cases of CRPS from the Danish Patient Compensation Association
ConclusionsFemale gender, surgical treatment and treatment to the upper limb were risk factors. Elective surgery accounted for a large number of post‐treatment CRPS patients. Acute versus chronic phase mechanisms in a rat model of CRPS

Altered regulation of the T-cell system in patients with CRPS
AbstractThe aim of this study was to investigate T-cell subsets and immunomodulatory factors in patients with complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS). We found decreased numbers of pro-inflammatory Th17 cells in patients with CRPS as compared to healthy volunteers. The expression of Th17 related ROR γT mRNA was also significantly decreased. Conclusions: In neuropathies, treatment of the neuropathic pain has a modulating effect on mental disorders. As CRPS patients are frequently affected by depressions, and owing to the connection between depression and suicidal tendencies, patients should be seen by a consultation-liaison psychiatrist, and nonpsychiatrists should pay special attention to this patient group.
