The determinants of carbon emissions in Belt and Road Initiative countries: analyzing the interactive role of information and communication technologies
Environ Sci Pollut Res Int. 2023 Sep 8. doi: 10.1007/s11356-023-29719-8. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTBelt and Road Initiative (BRI) countries have benefited greatly from the intelligent growth of the green economy made possible by the widespread adoption of internet and mobile phone technologies. In addition, renewable energy consumption endorses sustainable development. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to determine if the use of information and communication technology (ICT) and renewable energy consumption has an effect on sustainable development in BRI countries, while using the augmented mean group (AMG) mo...

Thirty years of sustainability reporting research: a scientometric analysis
Environ Sci Pollut Res Int. 2023 Sep 8. doi: 10.1007/s11356-023-29452-2. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe growing relevance of sustainability reporting (SR) has dramatically surged advocacy and interest among both academicians and practitioners. However, few studies have attempted to holistically encapsulate global research on sustainability reporting. The present study employed scientometric analysis on sustainability reporting based 1434 articles extracted from the Web of Science database, published between 1992 and 2022, to comprehensively map the intellectual structure of this field. Domain visualizations were constru...

The impact of China's information infrastructure construction policy on green total factor productivity: moving towards a green world
Environ Sci Pollut Res Int. 2023 Sep 7. doi: 10.1007/s11356-023-29638-8. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTChina's economic growth over the past two decades has led to severe environmental pollution in most of its cities. To address this issue, China has developed and implemented several strategies to increase its resource utilization efficiency and move towards a green production economy, such as the information infrastructure construction policy (IICP). To assess the extent to which green production is being achieved, this study first measured the green total factor productivity (GTFP) in Chinese prefecture-level cities usin...

Emission accounting and drivers in Central Asian countries
Environ Sci Pollut Res Int. 2023 Sep 6. doi: 10.1007/s11356-023-29608-0. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTEmerging countries are at the frontier of climate change actions, and carbon emissions accounting provides a quantifiable measure of the environmental impact of economic activities, which allows for comparisons of emissions across different entities. However, currently there is no study covering detailed emissions inventories for emerging countries in Central Asian. This paper compiles detailed and accurate carbon emissions inventories in several Central Asian countries (i.e., Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Palestine, ...

Rhodium(III)-catalyzed intermolecular 3+3 annulation of benzoxazines with quinone compounds: access to spiro-heterocyclic scaffolds
Chem Commun (Camb). 2023 Sep 6. doi: 10.1039/d3cc03609j. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTA rhodium(III)-catalyzed redox-neutral spiroannulation approach to access the spiro[benzo[b][1,4]oxazine-benzo[c]chromene skeleton is described in this contribution. A variety of spiro[5.5]-heterocyclic scaffolds were obtained in moderate to excellent yields under mild conditions. Key features of this protocol are good substrate scope, silver-free conditions, low catalyst loadings, easy handling under air and 100% atom economy. Furthermore, scale-up reactions and late-stage derivatizations highlight the potential synthetic utility of thi...

Valorization of a poultry industry floated sludge as a raw material to produce char and activated carbon for pharmaceutical compounds adsorption
This study was intended to valorize a floated sludge of a poultry slaughterhouse using it as a precursor to producing char and activated carbon, which were tested as adsorbents in removing ketoprofen and diclofenac sodium from the water. The addition of zinc chloride or calcium hydroxide was determinant for forming a porous carbonaceous structure with a high surface area in AC-FSP (656.54 m2 g-1), differently from that exhibited by the CHAR-FSP (8.11 m2 g-1). Kinetic and equilibrium studies indicated that the pseudo-second-order and the Sips models were suitable. The AC- FSP maximum adsorption capacity for ketoprofen and d...

Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTSurface water pollution has become relevant because growing population and intense industrial activities. Thus, to protect the environment from contamination, recently the electroanalytical sensors that require small sample volume and easy preparation have shown a prominent performance for pharmaceuticals monitoring. For this purpose, a miniaturized electrochemical platform was developed based on recycling obsolete computer integrated circuits (microchips), fitting with the ideals of green chemistry and circular economy. T...
