Root development differences between cleft-adjacent teeth on the cleft side in comparison to their analogs on the noncleft side in patients with nonsyndromic cleft lip and palate who received secondary alveolar bone grafting
CONCLUSIONS: Root development of cleft-adjacent central incisors and canines is slow in comparison with their noncleft analogs. Root development of these teeth accelerates following SABG.PMID:37698289 | DOI:10.2319/041923-286.1

Total wrist arthroplasty with the Freedom ® prosthesis: a short-term follow-up
J Hand Surg Eur Vol. 2023 Sep 11:17531934231193119. doi: 10.1177/17531934231193119. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTWe retrospectively reviewed our series of primary total wrist arthroplasty with the Freedom® prosthesis. The primary outcome measure was revision, and secondary measures included radiographic loosening, pain, complications, movement range, grip strength and patient-reported measures. We reviewed 12 implants in 11 patients (mean age 59 years, range 45-80) with a mean radiological and clinical follow-up of 2.7 and 3 years, respectively. One radial component failed to integrate and was revised at Day 84. Four car...

Muscle forces acting on the greater trochanter lead to a dorsal warping of the apophyseal growth plate
J Anat. 2023 Sep 11. doi: 10.1111/joa.13944. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe apophyseal growth plate of the greater trochanter, unlike most other growth plates of the human body, exhibits a curved morphology that results in a divergent pattern resembling an open crocodile mouth on plain antero-posterior radiographs. To quantify the angular alignment of the growth plate and to draw conclusions about the function of the muscles surrounding it, we analyzed 57 MRI images of 51 children and adolescents aged 3-17 years and of six adults aged 18-52 years. We measured the angulation of the plate relative to the horizontal plane ...

The Exeter-Trident THA with ceramic-on-ceramic-bearings: 10-year outcomes in 275 total hip arthroplasties
CONCLUSIONS: The Exeter-Trident THA with alumina ceramic-on-ceramic bearings performed well in this population. Patients are at low risk of revision in the first decade. However, there is a small risk of stem fracture as a late complication and some patients experience significant noise.PMID:37694894 | DOI:10.1177/11207000231198220

Predicting successful clinical candidates for fiducial-free lung tumor tracking with a deep learning binary classification model
CONCLUSIONS: A deep learning model can distinguish features of trackable and untrackable lesions in DRR images, and can predict successful candidates for fiducial-free lung tumor tracking.PMID:37696265 | DOI:10.1002/acm2.14146

A correction factor is needed for the intraoperative measurement of cup inclination in total hip arthroplasty
CONCLUSION: An added correction factor of 4∘ should be respected in intraoperative inclination measurements to adapt for parallax. An increased correction factor of 6∘ in particularly low-positioned cups (< 31∘) and a decreased correction factor of 2∘ in particularly steeply positioned cups (> 43∘) is recommended.PMID:37694326 | DOI:10.3233/THC-230651
