Recreational drug use in men who have sex with men (MSM) attending UK sexual health services is significantly higher than in non-MSM
Conclusions Both lifetime and last month use of most recreational drugs was more common in MSM, when compared to non-MSM males. Sexual health clinics may provide an opportunistic encounter to identify patterns of recreational drug use, explore motivations for use, and implement strategies to reduce harms related to drug use. This will require a multidisciplinary approach to address the psychosocial aspects of drug taking behaviours, in combination with healthcare professionals experienced in the management of recreational drug use.

Validation of the ‘drinking expectancy questionnaire for men who have sex with men’ in Peru
ConclusionsThe DEQ‐MSM‐S was shown to be highly reliable in a large population of Peruvian MSM and TGW. This short instrument can be effectively integrated into research or clinical practice, in order to identify alcohol‐consuming, high‐risk MSM, who can then be directed for further screening and/or intervention. Future research should aim to associate the Spanish version of the DEQ‐MSM with risky sexual behaviours among this population, in order to identify potential intervention targets. Earlier Detection of Hepatitis C Virus Infection Through Routine Hepatitis C Virus Antibody Screening of Human Immunodeficiency Virus-Positive Men Who Have Sex With Men Attending A Sexually Transmitted Infection Outpatient Clinic: A Longitudinal Study
Conclusions: The introduction of routine anti-HCV testing at the STI outpatient clinic resulted in additional and earlier HCV detection among HIV-positive MSM. Testing should be continued among HIV-positive MSM, at least for those not (yet) under the care of an HIV clinic and those notified of HCV by their sexual partner.

Abstract A80: Cancer communication and prevention behaviors: HPV associated cancer prevention deficits among an MSM population in Tampa Bay
Conclusion: These results indicate the HPV cancer risk education and screening and prevention needs for MSM are sub-optimal. Experiences and perceptions of MSM individuals revealed a lack of provider information regarding HPV specific cancer risk factors and preventative measures which may be attributed to healthcare providers' lack of awareness regarding the health risks and prevalence of risk factors among MSM. A need for additional training regarding the MSM population is indicated. These results highlight the need for curriculum to improve cultural relevance for health care professionals.Citation Format: Lauren E. Wils...

Limited overlap between phylogenetic HIV and hepatitis C virus clusters illustrates the dynamic sexual network structure of Dutch HIV-infected MSM
Conclusion: We observed few HIV clusters with elevated HCV prevalence, no increase in the HIV phylogenetic density of HIV/HCV-coinfected MSM compared to HIV-infected MSM without HCV, and limited overlap between HIV and HCV phylogenies among HIV/HCV-coinfected MSM. Our data do not support the existence of MSM-specific sexual networks that fuel both the HIV and HCV epidemic.

Racial/Ethnic Disparities in HIV Preexposure Prophylaxis Among Men Who Have Sex with Men - 23 Urban Areas, 2017.
Abstract In 2017, preliminary data show that gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (MSM) accounted for 67% of new diagnoses of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection, that MSM who inject drugs accounted for an additional 3%, and that African American/black (black) and Hispanic/Latino (Hispanic) MSM were disproportionately affected (1). During 2010-2015, racial/ethnic disparities in HIV incidence increased among MSM; in 2015, rates among black and Hispanic MSM were 10.5 and 4.9 times as high, respectively, as the rate among white MSM (compared with 9.2 and 3.8 times as high, respectively, in 2010...

HPV infections among young MSM visiting sexual health centers in the Netherlands: Opportunities for targeted HPV vaccination.
DISCUSSION: There were no significant declines in the HPV prevalence among MSM up to eight years after introduction of girls-only HPV16/18 vaccination, indicating that MSM are unlikely to benefit largely from herd effects from girls-only vaccination. Most MSM were vaccine-type DNA negative and seronegative, suggesting that vaccination of young MSM visiting SHCs could still be beneficial. PMID: 32201140 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Brief Report: Temporal Changes in HIV Transmission Patterns Among Young Men Who Have Sex With Men, United States, 2009–2016
Conclusions: We found evidence of increased age mixing among MSM with respect to HIV transmission over time, which coincides temporally with changes in partner-seeking behavior such as increased use of mobile applications. These findings indicate the importance of social factors on HIV sexual and transmission networks and suggest that prevention efforts need to effectively reach MSM of all ages.

Prevalence and associated factors of HIV self-testing among men who have sex with men in Ningbo, China: a cross-sectional study
CONCLUSIONS: Further HIVST education should be strengthened for school-aged children and teenagers, and free HIVST kits may be provided to high-risk MSM through gay apps and CBO to achieve the increased HIV testing frequency.PMID:33879191 | DOI:10.1186/s12981-021-00339-x

Post-lockdown rebounding high-risk behaviors and HIV testing among MSM in China in the era of COVID-19 pandemic
Conclusions After lifting the lockdown measures, MSM had rebounding HRBs and uptake of testing. Effective preventive measures and healthcare services should be available to MSM after the lockdown measures are lifted.PMID:35702795 | DOI:10.2174/1570162X20666220613120735
