National trends in HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis awareness, willingness and use among United States men who have sex with men recruited online, 2013 through 2017.
CONCLUSIONS: Our data show progress in use of PrEP among US MSM, but also reveal mismatches between PrEP use and epidemic need. We call for additional support of PrEP initiation, especially among young, non-urban and uninsured MSM. Black and Hispanic MSM report levels of PrEP use no different from white MSM, but given higher HIV incidence for Black and Hispanic MSM, parity in use is not sufficient for epidemic control or health equity. The mediated effect of HIV risk perception in the relationship between peer education and HIV testing uptake among three key populations in China
CONCLUSIONS: Participants who received peer education tended to perceive their risk of HIV infection, which in turn was associated with increased HIV testing uptake among MSM and DUs. Therefore, in addition to peer education interventions, more report about HIV epidemic and risk assessment should also be scaled up to enhance HIV risk perception among key populations.PMID:33766062 | PMC:PMC7992327 | DOI:10.1186/s12981-021-00334-2

Difference in toxicity of Pd (II) and mechanism of action before and after reduction by Bacillus wiedmannii MSM
In this study, the toxicity of Pd (II) to Bacillus wiedmannii MSM (B. wiedmannii MSM) was assessed before and after reduction by live B. wiedmannii MSM cells (referred to as "Pd (0)-loaded cells") and after biosorption by dead B. wiedmannii MSM cells (referred to as "Pd (II)-loaded cells"). B. wiedmannii MSM is a widely occurring, nonpathogenic aerobic bacterium. Compared with Pd (II), the EC20, EC50, and EC80 of Pd (0)-loaded cells increased by 77.73-, 112.75-, and 163.91-fold, respectively, while the EC20, EC50, and EC80 of Pd (II)-loaded cells increased by only 11.55-, 9.77-, and 8.29-fold, respectively. The sterilizati...

Hepatitis C virus (HCV) incidence among men who have sex with men (MSM) living with HIV: results from the French Hospital Database on HIV (ANRS CO4-FHDH) cohort study, 2014 to 2017
ConclusionThe primary incidence of HCV was halved for MSM living with HIV between 2014 and 2017. This decrease may be related to unrestricted DAA availability in France for individuals living with HIV. Further interventions, including risk reduction, are needed to reach HCV micro-elimination in MSM living with HIV.PMID:34558403 | DOI:10.2807/1560-7917.ES.2021.26.38.2001321
