A fully integrated duplex RT-LAMP device for the detection of viral infections
In this study, we showed and evaluated a prototype of a microfluidic system, and showed that duplex RT-LAMP can detect and distinguish between the two viruses, with LoDs of 2,000 copies/ml for bovine coronavirus and 200 copies/ml for influenza A/X-31 virus.PMID:37682413 | PMC:PMC10491696 | DOI:10.1007/s10544-023-00676-w

Quantitative analysis of respiratory viruses based on lab-on-a-chip platform
Anal Bioanal Chem. 2023 Sep 8. doi: 10.1007/s00216-023-04935-w. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe quantitative analysis of respiratory viruses is of great importance for rapid diagnosis, precision medicine, and prognosis. Several current quantitative analysis systems have been proposed and commercialized. Although they have been proven in trials, quantitative analyzes based on real samples are still complex, time-consuming, and expensive. Therefore, they are not able to directly quantify real samples. In this work, we presented a lab-on-a-chip platform combined with an automated control system to achieve quantitative analy...

Percutaneous cholecystostomy in the management of acute cholecystitis-comparative analysis of before and after the COVID 19 pandemic
CONCLUSION: PC is an effective and safe treatment method that reduced the operating room and intensive care burden during the exacerbation of the COVID 19 pandemic. Therefore, it seems like a logical option to expand the PC indications at times when the number of COVID 19 patients increases.PMID:37681720 | DOI:10.14744/tjtes.2023.22901

Person-centred critical care for a person with learning disability and COVID-19: case study of positive risk taking
Br J Nurs. 2023 Sep 7;32(16):776-784. doi: 10.12968/bjon.2023.32.16.776.ABSTRACTPeople with learning disabilities are known to experience a wide range of health inequalities and have a lower life expectancy than the general population. During the COVID-19 pandemic this extended to higher mortality rates following infection with the novel coronavirus. This case study presents an example of a positive outcome for Jade, a 21-year-old woman with learning disabilities and autism who required a long period in intensive care following COVID-19 infection. It demonstrates the impact of effective multidisciplinary collaboration invo...

USE OF RECOMBINANT S1 PROTEIN WITH hFc FOR ANALYSIS OF SARS-COV-2 ADSORPTION AND EVALUATION OF DRUGS THAT INHIBIT ENTRY INTO VERO E6 CELLS
Immunol Lett. 2023 Sep 6:S0165-2478(23)00145-1. doi: 10.1016/j.imlet.2023.09.002. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe significant number of deaths and cases of infection by the new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 requires an urgent demand for effective and available drugs for the treatment of COVID-19.However, the need for biosafety level 3 (NB-3) laboratories for experiments with the virus has made it very difficult for such research to meet this demand. It is known that angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2), located on the surface of host cells, is the viral receptor for the spike (S) protein of SARS-CoV-2. This protein is a tetra...
