Characterization of Multiple Resistance Genes of Escherichia coli Strains Isolated from Food and Clinical Samples
Cell Mol Biol (Noisy-le-grand). 2023 Jul 31;69(7):118-126. doi: 10.14715/cmb/2023.69.7.19.ABSTRACTMulti-drug resistance (MDR), which is formed by the development of antimicrobial resistance, which is one of the defense mechanisms in bacteria, has pushed human beings to constantly seek new antimicrobial agents in the fight against these microorganisms. Speed and precision are very important in identifying resistance in strains with MDR that reach humans in an open system through the consumption of contaminated food or water. The main aim of this study was the molecular characterization of ESBL gene variants (blaTEM, blaOXA,...

Vaginal Microbiota Profile in first-trimester miscarriages cases
In this study, 435 vaginal swabs were collected from aborted women in Maternity Teaching Hospitals in Erbil and Shahid Dr. Khalid Hospital in Koya. We characterized the vaginal microbiota diversity and composition in first-trimester abortion and investigated the association between bacterial vaginosis and abortion before 12 weeks. Cultural, morphological, and biochemical characteristics for each bacterial genus were discovered, and VITEK-2 system was used to identify isolated bacteria. Samples from each type of bacteria were selected for sequencing utilizing 16 rRNA genes examining V4-V8 region for bacterial profiles. Bact...

Management of Acute Cerebral Infarction by Intravenous Thrombolysis with Recombinant T Cell Receptor and Plasminogen Activator and Association of Emergency Nursing Route in the Prognosis
In this study, 100 patients were randomly selected that were equally divided into experimental and control groups. The period of hospital admission, the results of the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) and the Mini-mental State Examination (MMSE), the results of the Glasgow Outcome Scale (GOS), and the results of the Activities of Daily Living were all analysed before and after the intervention.. Both the amount of time it took to get a diagnosis after being admitted and the amount of time it took to receive specialised therapy after receiving a diagnosis were significantly reduced in the observation group (both P value...

Application Value of Next-Generation Sequencing of Bronchial Alveolar Lavage Fluid in Emergency Patients with Infection
This study was performed to explore the application value of next-generation sequencing (NGS) of bronchial alveolar lavage fluid (BALF) in emergency patients with infection. In this regard, a total of 52 patients with infection who were diagnosed and treated in the emergency department of our hospital from September 2019 to September 2021 were selected as the research objects. The BALF of the patients was analyzed by NGS, and the results were compared with the pathogen detection results of traditional microbial culture of the patients to analyze the diagnostic value of NGS in patients with infection. The results showed tha...

Adoption of nanoparticle micro-infusion valve in venous port access for tumor patients and self-care analysis
Cell Mol Biol (Noisy-le-grand). 2023 Jul 31;69(7):91-97. doi: 10.14715/cmb/2023.69.7.15.ABSTRACTIt aimed to discuss the adoption of nanoparticle micro-infusion valves in the totally implantable venous access port (TIVAP) of tumor patients and analyze the self-care of patients after surgery. A total of 189 tumor patients who received TIVAP chemotherapy were selected from the day chemotherapy outpatient department of the Second People's Hospital of Lianyungang City from June to October 2021. The questionnaire survey was conducted to collect and analyze the general information about the patients and the patient's self-care ab...

Vitamin D supplementation improves the therapeutic effect of mometasone on allergic rhinitis
This study aimed to investigate the efficacy and safety of vitamin D supplementation in the treatment of allergic rhinitis (AR) using mometasone. A total of 140 patients with moderate and severe AR treated at our hospital between January 2017 and August 2020 were recruited as subjects for this study. The patients were randomly divided into control and experimental groups, with 70 patients in each group. Mometasone nasal spray was used in both groups, and vitamin D was administered to the experimental group for four weeks. The total nasal symptom scores (TNSS) and rhinoconjunctivitis quality of life questionnaire (RQLQ) wer...

Risk of suicide and religious or spiritual beliefs in Brazilian adult patients with epilepsy
DISCUSSION: A high number of patients with epilepsy exhibited suicide risk, with epilepsy-related variables, the presence of anxiety, and perceived lower belongingness and social support from religiosity or spirituality anxiety being associated with a higher risk. The social support provided by religiosity/spirituality may be a non-clinical factor associated with suicidal behavior. Suicide in epilepsy is associated with a complex interaction of multidimensional factors.PMID:37716329 | DOI:10.1016/j.yebeh.2023.109414

Selective oxidation of p-phenylenediamine for blood glucose detection enabled by Se-vacancy-rich TiSe < sub > 2-x < /sub > @Au nanozyme
Biosens Bioelectron. 2023 Sep 9;241:115665. doi: 10.1016/j.bios.2023.115665. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTNanozymes with enzyme-like characteristics have drawn wide interest but the catalytic activity and substrate selectivity of nanozymes still need improvement. Herein, Se-vacancy-rich TiSe2-x@Au nanocomposites are designed and demonstrated as nanozymes. The TiSe2-x@Au nanocomposites show excellent peroxidase-like activity and the chromogenic substrate p-phenylenediamine (PPD) can be selectively oxidized to compounds that exhibit an absorption peak at 413 nm that differs from that of self-oxidation or generally oxidized ...

Pro-Con Debate: Consideration of Race, Ethnicity, and Gender Is Detrimental to Successful Mentorship
Anesth Analg. 2023 Oct 1;137(4):747-753. doi: 10.1213/ANE.0000000000006502. Epub 2023 Sep 5.ABSTRACTAnesthesiology remains a specialty with low representation of women or members of racial and ethnic groups considered underrepresented in medicine (UiM). In the United States, women account for 33% of anesthesiology residents, while physicians identifying as Black, African American, Latinx, American Indian, or Alaska Native account for approximately 10%. Underrepresentation of these groups is even more pronounced in academic anesthesiology, especially at the senior ranks and roles, such as department chairs. Leaders in the f...

The clinical predictive value and regulation mechanism of microRNA-188-5p in contrast-induced acute kidney injury
Biochem Biophys Res Commun. 2023 Sep 10;679:215-223. doi: 10.1016/j.bbrc.2023.09.019. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTContrast-induced acute kidney injury (CI-AKI), also known as contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN), has become the third leading cause of iatrogenic AKI. Serum creatinine (Scr) is currently used in CIN clinical diagnosis. Patients with increased Scr have developed severe kidney injury, so there is an urgent need to find a bio-marker for CIN early diagnosis. To investigate the changes in circulating microRNA-188-5p (miR-188-5p) after coronary angiography and its predictive value for the CIN occurrence, miR-188-5p...

A Campylobacteriosis Outbreak Caused by One Asymptomatic Food Handler Carrier
Biomed Environ Sci. 2023 Aug 20;36(8):779-782. doi: 10.3967/bes2023.105.ABSTRACTIn August 2021, three students with diarrhea from the same school visited a local hospital in the S district of Beijing. An epidemic investigation showed that there were more students with diarrhea in the same school and they had one meal together. Campylobacter jejuni was isolated from both patients with diarrhea and asymptomatic food handlers; however, the latter also carried Campylobacter coli. Phylogenomic analysis showed that there was a campylobacteriosis outbreak among the students, and the asymptomatic food handler may have been the sou...
