Changes in Bone Quality after Treatment with Etelcalcetide
CONCLUSIONS: Treatment with etelcalcetide for 36-weeks was associated with improvements in central skeleton areal bone mineral density and trabecular quality and lowered bone turnover without affecting bone material properties.PMID:37574661 | DOI:10.2215/CJN.0000000000000254

Does Hospitalist Care Enhance Palliative Care and Reduce Aggressive Treatments for Terminally Ill Patients? A Propensity Score-Matched Study
CONCLUSIONS: Hospitalist care is associated with an improved palliative consultation rate and reduced life-sustaining treatments before death.PMID:37568793 | DOI:10.3390/cancers15153976

Correlations of PCSK9 and LDLR gene polymorphisms as well as serum PCSK9 levels with atherosclerosis and lipid metabolism in maintenance hemodialysis patients
This study is aimed at investigating the correlations of PCSK9 and LDLR gene polymorphisms as well as serum PCSK9 levels with atherosclerosis and lipid metabolism in patients on maintenance hemodialysis. SNP at the E670G locus of the PCSK9 gene and the rs688 locus of the LDLR gene was analyzed by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism. All study subjects' blood lipid (triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), and low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C)) concentrations and lipoprotein (a) and PCSK9 levels were measured. The differences in blood l...

Leukocyte 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine as an Oxidative Stress Marker to Predict Cardiovascular Events and Death in Chronic Hemodialysis Patients
CONCLUSION: This is the first study to demonstrate that oxidative stress assessed by 8-OHdG levels of leukocyte DNA predicted CV events as well as CV and all-cause deaths among chronic hemodialysis patients.PMID:37563751 | DOI:10.1097/JCMA.0000000000000980

Efficacy of physical exercise on sleep quality in patients with chronic kidney disease: a systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: Preliminary scientific evidence indicates that patients with CKD, especially those undergoing HD, report improvements in self-reported sleep quality after taking part in aerobic exercise programs, while combined training interventions yielded diverse findings. The effects of exercise on sleepiness and objective sleep status were backed by few studies with mixed results.PMID:37566185 | DOI:10.1007/s11325-023-02891-4
