The prognosis of patients with prostate cancer receiving permanent seed implantation stratified by prostate volume: should we be reluctant to treat with brachytherapy because of a very small prostate ( & lt;15 cc)?
CONCLUSIONS: Our results obtained by analyzing a very large Japanese prospective database showed no difference in treatment outcomes according to PV (<15 cc, 15-20 cc, and ˃20 cc). Our study confirmed that PI in small prostates (even <15 cc) remains an effective treatment option.PMID:37597804 | DOI:10.1016/j.radonc.2023.109855

Estimated Absolute Percentage of Biopsied Tissue Positive for Gleason Pattern 4 (eAPP4) in Low Dose Rate Prostate Brachytherapy: Evaluation of Prognostic Utility in a Large Cohort
Prostate cancer (PCa) is the most common solid organ malignancy in Canadian males [1]. There are a variety of radiotherapy and surgical treatments available to patients; the efficacy of these treatments is often estimated based off of risk stratification systems such as those developed by the NCCN. [2]. One of the major factors in these prognostication algorithms is the Gleason grade grouping, which is calculated following histologic evaluation of prostate core biopsies. While the Gleason grade groups have been useful for prognostication and management planning, the system does have significant shortcomings [3].

Quantitative study on dose distribution of Freiburg flap for keloid high-dose-rate brachytherapy based on MatriXX
CONCLUSION: MatriXX could be used for dose verification of HDR brachytherapy with an FF applicator. When the FF applicator was applied for keloid, insufficient scattering conditions would cause an insufficient target dose. This difference could be reduced by covering the bolus with different thicknesses on the applicator. The smaller the field, the thicker the bolus required.PMID:37593834 | DOI:10.1002/acm2.14118

Radiation therapists shortage in France: Organizational consequences and difficulties in deploying new missions and/or tasks delegation
CONCLUSION: This survey shows a significant impact of radiation therapist shortage in radiotherapy oncology care (treatment delays, access to caregiver support time, workload on treatment teams), and represents a major obstacle to the development of radiotherapy structures.PMID:37596123 | DOI:10.1016/j.canrad.2023.07.007

Clinical outcomes using a 3D printed tandem-needle-template and the EMBRACE-II planning aims for image guided adaptive brachytherapy in locally advanced cervical cancer
Conclusions: 3DP TNT for BT in cervical cancer provides successful management of very extensive local disease and/or unfavorable anatomy with the possibility for treatment individualization.PMID:37594195 | DOI:10.1080/0284186X.2023.2246642

Ultrasound Guided, Freehand Transperineal Prostate Biopsy: An Alternative to the Transrectal Approach
CONCLUSIONS: The use of ultrasound guided freehand transperineal prostate biopsy for the suspicion or surveillance of prostate cancer is feasible and safe. The results were encouraging with respect to the primary outcome measurements. Ultrasound guided freehand transperineal prostate biopsy with the patient under local anesthesia is currently under investigation. Large, prospective, randomized, multiple operator studies to evaluate the comparative effectiveness of freehand transperineal prostate biopsy and transrectal ultrasound guided biopsy techniques are recommended.PMID:37592459 | DOI:10.1016/j.urpr.2015.05.007
