Risk Factors for Breast Cancer-Related Lymphedema: An Umbrella Review
CONCLUSIONS: The currently identified risk factors for BCRL all are innate personal trait-related factors. Future well-designed studies and robust meta-analyses are needed to explore potential associations between behavioral-, interpersonal-, and environmental-related factors and BCRL, as well as the role of genetic variations and pathophysiologic factors.PMID:37725224 | DOI:10.1245/s10434-023-14277-7

Systematic Minigene-Based Splicing Analysis and Tentative Clinical Classification of 52 CHEK2 Splice-Site Variants
CONCLUSIONS: Incorporation of minigene read-outs into an ACMG/AMP (American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics/Association for Molecular Pathology)-based classification scheme allowed us to classify 32 CHEK2 variants (27 pathogenic/likely pathogenic and 5 likely benign). However, 20 variants (38%) remained of uncertain significance, reflecting in part the complex splicing patterns of this gene.PMID:37725924 | DOI:10.1093/clinchem/hvad125

Secondary Breast Angiosarcoma After a Primary Diagnosis of Breast Cancer: A Retrospective Analysis of the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) Database
CONCLUSIONS: We demonstrate an increasing incidence of SBA over the study period. These data can help inform shared decision-making for optimal management of locoregional breast cancer and raise awareness of secondary angiosarcoma.PMID:37725702 | DOI:10.1097/COC.0000000000001045

Experimental study of HIFU incomplete ablation on the damage effect and prognosis of rabbit VX2 breast cancer model
CONCLUSIONS: HIFU incomplete ablation, with an 80% tumor ablation rate, induces substantial tumor damage, augments tumor cell apoptosis, and triggers an anti-tumor immune response, curtailing metastasis. These insights may underpin further investigations into the therapeutic implications of HIFU incomplete ablation.PMID:37726101 | DOI:10.1080/02656736.2023.2255760

The quality and clinical translation of radiomics studies based on MRI for predicting Ki-67 levels in patients with breast cancer
CONCLUSION: Ki-67 index is a common tumor biomarker with high clinical value. Radiomics is an ever-growing quantitative data-mining method helping predict tumor biomarkers from medical images. However, the quality of the reviewed studies evaluated by the RQS was not so satisfactory and there are ample opportunities for improvement. Open science and data, external validation, phantom study, publicly open radiomics database and standardization in the radiomics practice are what researchers should pay more attention to in the future.ADVANCES IN KNOWLEDGE: The RQS tool considered the radiomics used to predict the Ki-67 level w...

Anti ‐aquaporin‐4 immunoglobulin G/anti‐myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein immunoglobulin G double‐positive paraneoplastic neurological syndrome in a patient with triple‐negative breast cancer
We report a rare case of paraneoplastic neurological syndrome with dual seropositivity of anti-aquaporin-4 and myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibodies in a 40  year-old woman with metastatic triple-negative breast cancer. She received multiple lines of anti-neoplastic treatment, including immunotherapy with pembrolizumab, as well as cytotoxic chemotherapy. Paraneoplastic meningoencephalomyelitis developed 2 years after diagnosis of breast cancer and 1  year after discontinuation of immunotherapy with pembrolizumab. She first developed longitudinally extending transverse myelitis followed by left optic neuritis...

Clinical and pathological factors and outcome of central nervous system metastasis in breast cancer
This study aimed to identify prognostic factors for overall survival (OS) in a cohort of Swiss patients with BMBC. This study evaluated the prognosis on older BMBC, which has not been completely addressed in the literature.MethodsWe performed a retrospective chart review analysis with the primary endpoint of OS after a diagnosis of BMBC. The study population was divided into 2 groups based on an OS cut-off value of 12 months after diagnosis. Univariate and multivariate analyses of several risk factors, including age, were performed. To evaluate differences in OS according to age, we performed a secondary analysis to examin...
