COVID-associated complications after reconstructive breast surgery: a retrospective cohort study
ConclusionPerioperative COVID-infection increases susceptibility to complicated wound healing after reconstructive breast surgery. A possible explanation lies in the dysregulation of haemostasis by the virus, and its direct effects on microvasculature. A hypercoagulable state results. We recommend to postpone elective breast surgery for 4 –6 weeks after COVID-19 infection. Also, precautionary measures remain important to minimize the risk of perioperative COVID-19 infection.

Ipsilateral breast tumor recurrence after breast-conserving surgery: insights into biology and treatment
AbstractDespite modern surgical and irradiation techniques, ipsilateral breast tumor recurrence (IBTR) accounts for 5 –15% of all cancer recurrence in women treated with breast conservative treatment. Historically, this event has been treated definitively with salvage mastectomy and completion axillary clearance. However, many local recurrences are small and without nodal involvement at presentation. Thus, there has been an interest in performing a surgical de-escalation procedure in the breast and the axilla. The current guidelines do not provide detailed descriptions and treatment suggestions for these selected patient...

An anonymous survey was distributed to primary care physicians, primary care advanced practice practitioners, and internal medicine and family medicine residents at three academic medical systems in the United States (Mayo Clinic, University of Michigan, Univer...
