Socioeconomic status and cecal adenocarcinoma mortality risk: an American population-based analysis
CONCLUSION: Low socioeconomic status is associated with an increased risk of death in patients with cecal adenocarcinoma in the United States and show different distribution patterns based on population. Improving health insurance policies and strengthening psychotherapy can provide guidance for improving prognosis f cecal adenocarcinoma patients.PMID:37712280 | PMC:PMC10505572 | DOI:10.12122/j.issn.1673-4254.2023.08.20

Methylation of hypoxia-inducible factor 3 subunit alpha contributes to poor prognosis in lung adenocarcinoma
J Appl Genet. 2023 Sep 14. doi: 10.1007/s13353-023-00784-6. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTHypoxia-inducible factor 3 subunit alpha (HIF3A) has been implicated in various types of cancers, while its precise role in the lung adenocarcinoma remains unclear. Our study aimed to investigate the roles of HIF3A in lung adenocarcinoma and its regulation by DNA methylation. We utilized bioinformatic tools, including UALCAN and KMPlot, to analyze the relationship between HIF3A expression, DNA methylation, and patient survival rate in lung adenocarcinoma. We also used siRNA-mediated knockdown of HIF3A and DNA-methyltransferase 1 (DNMT...

Early immune changes support signet ring cell dormancy in CDH1-driven hereditary diffuse gastric carcinogenesis
Mol Cancer Res. 2023 Sep 14. doi: 10.1158/1541-7786.MCR-23-0122. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTStage IA gastric adenocarcinoma, characterized by foci of intramucosal signet ring cells (SRCs), is found in nearly all asymptomatic patients with germline pathogenic CDH1 variants and hereditary diffuse gastric cancer syndrome (HDGC). The molecular steps involved in initiating malignant transformation and promoting SRC dormancy in HDGC are unknown. Here, whole-exome bulk RNA sequencing (RNAseq) of SRCs and adjacent non-SRC epithelium (NEP) was performed on laser-capture microdissected (LCM) regions of interest found in risk-redu...

Combined targeting of NAD biosynthesis and the NAD-dependent transcription factor C-terminal Binding Protein as a promising novel therapy for pancreatic cancer
Cancer Res Commun. 2023 Sep 13. doi: 10.1158/2767-9764.CRC-22-0521. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCancer therapies targeting metabolic derangements unique to cancer cells are emerging as a key strategy to address refractory solid tumors such as pancreatic ductal adenocarcinomas (PDAC) that exhibit resistance to extreme nutrient deprivation in the tumor microenvironment. Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) participates in multiple metabolic pathways and Nicotinamide phosphoribosyl transferase (NAMPT) is one of the key intracellular enzymes that facilitate the synthesis of NAD. C-terminal Binding Proteins 1 and 2 (CtBP) ...
