Obtaining polyphenolic extracts from pomegranate peel (Punica granatum) to evaluate the bactericide and antioxidant activity
An Acad Bras Cienc. 2023 Aug 28;95(suppl 1):e20200153. doi: 10.1590/0001-3765202320200153. eCollection 2023.ABSTRACTPomegranate (Punica granatum) contains secondary metabolites with antioxidant and bactericide activity; however, the study of the peel in the endemic varieties of Mexico has not been deepened. The polyphenols extraction of peel pomegranate endemic to the state of Michoacan, Mexico could be used in the formlulation of healthy food due contains antioxidant compounds or could be used like drugs due contains antibactericide compunds. In this work 3 varieties of pomegranate were analyzed; Wonderful, Apaseo and Teco...

National dengue surveillance, Cambodia 2002-2020
We report that while dengue case morbidity and mortality rates in Cambodia fell between 2002 and 2020, dengue incidence doubled and age at infection increased. Future national surveillance, disease prevention and treatment, and vector control policies will have to account for these changes to optimize disease control.PMID:37638355 | PMC:PMC10452936 | DOI:10.2471/BLT.23.289713

Mumps vaccine hesitancy: Current evidence and an evidence-based campaign in Japan
CONCLUSION: Our study showed several sociodemographic factors significantly associated with mumps vaccination. Further research is needed to examine the relevance of our findings to the uptake of other voluntary vaccines among children.PMID:37640569 | DOI:10.1016/j.vaccine.2023.08.045

Identifying inhibitors of Trypanosoma cruzi nucleoside diphosphate kinase 1 as potential repurposed drugs for Chagas' disease
Biochem Pharmacol. 2023 Aug 25:115766. doi: 10.1016/j.bcp.2023.115766. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTTrypanosoma cruzi is the causative agent of Chagas' disease, an endemic and neglected disease. The treatment is limited to only two drugs, benznidazole (BZL) and nifurtimox (NFX), introduced more than fifty years ago and no new advances have been made since then. Nucleoside diphosphate kinases (NDPK) are key metabolic enzymes which have gained interest as drug targets of pathogen organisms. Taking advantage of the computer-assisted drug repurposing approaches, in the present work we initiate a search of potential T. cruzi n...
