Usefulness of tumor perfusion on cone-beam CT after hepatic arterial infusion port implantation for evaluating tumor response to hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy in hepatocellular carcinoma treatment
CONCLUSION: Hyperperfusion tumors on CBCT showed a better tumor response to HAIC, with a 65% ORR in patients with HCC. Tumor perfusion on CBCT after implantation of the hepatic arterial infusion port was associated with the tumor response to HAIC.PMID:37695260 | DOI:10.4274/dir.2023.232311

Comparison of microvascular flow imaging and contrast-enhanced ultrasound for blood flow analysis of cervical lymph node lesions
CONCLUSION: Both CEUS and MVFI are valuable in differentiating benign and malignant lesions of lymph nodes and have a similar diagnostic performance; however, MVFI is less invasive and simpler than CEUS. Therefore it is preferred for auxiliary examination of enlarged lymph nodes that are difficult to diagnose by conventional ultrasound.PMID:37694358 | DOI:10.3233/CH-231860

Skeletal Muscle-derived FSTL1 Starting up Angiogenesis by Regulating Endothelial Junction via Activating Src Pathway Can be Upregulated by Hydrogen Sulfide
In conclusion, we demonstrated that H2S could upregulate the expression of FSTL1 by increasing the HuR levels in skeletal muscle, and paracrine FSTL1 could initiate angiogenesis by opening intercellular junctions via the Src signaling pathway.PMID:37694287 | DOI:10.1152/ajpcell.00219.2023

Ketone body 3-hydroxybutyrate elevates cardiac output through peripheral vasorelaxation and enhanced cardiac contractility
Basic Res Cardiol. 2023 Sep 9;118(1):37. doi: 10.1007/s00395-023-01008-y.ABSTRACTThe ketone body 3-hydroxybutyrate (3-OHB) increases cardiac output and myocardial perfusion without affecting blood pressure in humans, but the cardiovascular sites of action remain obscure. Here, we test the hypothesis in rats that 3-OHB acts directly on the heart to increase cardiac contractility and directly on blood vessels to lower systemic vascular resistance. We investigate effects of 3-OHB on (a) in vivo hemodynamics using echocardiography and invasive blood pressure measurements, (b) isolated perfused hearts in Langendorff systems, an...

A thermosensitive gel matrix for bioreactor-assisted in-cell NMR of nucleic acids and proteins
J Biomol NMR. 2023 Sep 9. doi: 10.1007/s10858-023-00422-7. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIntroducing the flow through the bioreactor has revolutionized in-cell NMR spectroscopy by prolonging the measurement time available to acquire spectral information about biomacromolecules in metabolically active cells. Bioreactor technology relies on immobilizer matrices, which secure cells in the active volume of the NMR coil and enable uniform perfusion of the growth medium, supplying fresh nutrients to the cells while removing toxic byproducts of their metabolism. The main drawbacks of commonly used matrices include the inability t...
