Ciltacabtagene Autoleucel in Patients With Prior Allogeneic Stem Cell Transplant in the CARTITUDE-1 Study
CONCLUSION: Cilta-cel efficacy and safety were comparable between CARTITUDE-1 patients with and without prior alloSCT. Additional studies are needed to fully elucidate the suitability of CAR-T cell therapy in the post-alloSCT setting.PMID:37716872 | DOI:10.1016/j.clml.2023.08.012

Role of Serum Inflammatory Cytokines in Sepsis Rats Following BMSCs Transplantation: Protein Microarray Analysis
In this study, we investigated the effects of BMSCs on serum inflammatory cytokines in a rat model of lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced sepsis. Sepsis was induced by intravenous injection of LPS, followed by transplantation of BMSCs. We monitored survival rates for 72 h and evaluated organ functions, histopathological changes, and cytokines expression. Sepsis rats showed decreased levels of white blood cells, platelets, lymphocyte ratio, and oxygen partial pressure, along with increased levels of neutrophil ratio, carbon dioxide partial pressure, lactic acid, alanine aminotransferase, and aspartate aminotransferase. Histolo...

Improving liver transplant outcomes with transplant-omics and network biology
Curr Opin Organ Transplant. 2023 Sep 13. doi: 10.1097/MOT.0000000000001100. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPURPOSE OF REVIEW: Molecular omics data is increasingly ubiquitous throughout medicine. In organ transplantation, recent large-scale research efforts are generating the 'transplant-ome' - the entire set of molecular omics data, including the genome, transcriptome, proteome, and metabolome. Importantly, early studies in anesthesiology have demonstrated how perioperative interventions alter molecular profiles in various patient populations. The next step for anesthesiologists and intensivists will be to tailor perioperat...

Isoxanthohumol improves obesity and glucose metabolism via inhibiting intestinal lipid absorption with a bloom of Akkermansia muciniphila in mice
CONCLUSIONS: Our study demonstrated that IX prevents obesity and enhances glucose metabolism by inhibiting dietary fat absorption. This mechanism is linked to suppressing pancreatic lipase activity and shifts in microbial composition, notably an increase in A. muciniphila. These highlight new treatment strategies for preventing metabolic syndrome by boosting the gut microbiota with food components.PMID:37709134 | DOI:10.1016/j.molmet.2023.101797

Emerging therapeutic options for non-alcoholic fatty liver disease: A systematic review
CONCLUSION: The data analyzed in this review showed clinically significant improvement in individual histological features of NAFLD in both animal and human trials for all four classes, as well as good safety profiles (P < 0.05). We believe this compilation of information will have positive clinical implications in obtaining an FDA-approved therapy for NAFLD.PMID:37701920 | PMC:PMC10494562 | DOI:10.4254/wjh.v15.i8.1001
