Uterine venous malformations in the puerperium: 2 Atypical cases and literature review
We present two cases of AVMs developing in the puerperium, both with a vaginal delivery and spontaneous and complete secondment. The symptom of onset was an episode of bright red blood loss in the puerperium, on the 14th and 21st postpartum days, respectively. Transvaginal ultrasound showed a hypervascularized lesion in the myometrium with turbulent vascular flow, confirmed by transabdominal ultrasound and angiography. To date, there are no guidelines on the management of MAVs. In our cases we opted for a conservative approach, in order to preserve the fertility of the patient. These experiences reported have the purpose o...

The value of sonographic microvascular imaging in the diagnosis of lipedema
CONCLUSIONS: Here we show that UMA imaging characterizes the subcutaneous microvasculature with an unprecedented accuracy. The method has the advantage of being sensitive to small, slow-flowing vessels. This allows for the assessment of the course of vessels and vascular pathologies in great detail. Thus, UMA as a non-invasive diagnostic method can improve diagnostic accuracy in lipedema.PMID:37638423 | DOI:10.3233/CH-238103

Mediterranean-style diet and intracranial large artery stenosis in the Northern Manhattan Study
CONCLUSION: In this stroke-free subsample, we did not find a significant association between MeDi and ICAS. We may have been limited by statistical power.PMID:37634256 | DOI:10.1016/j.jstrokecerebrovasdis.2023.107252

Influence of atherosclerotic burden on adult patients with ischemic moyamoya disease: combined analysis of two prospective cohorts
CONCLUSIONS: Adult patients with ischemic MMD who do not exhibit angiographic disease progression appear more strongly affected by atherosclerotic burden at the initial onset of cerebrovascular events than those exhibiting angiographic disease progression. A reduction in atherosclerotic burden by medical treatments for the former patients prevents further cerebrovascular events.PMID:37634169 | DOI:10.1080/01616412.2023.2252285

Acute Coronary Spasm Following Pelvic Fracture, Bleeding, and Shock in a Trauma Patient
We report a case of a patient with severe pelvic fracture who showed concurrent ST elevation on electrocardiogram. A 70-year-old man incurred an unstable pelvic fracture from a motorcycle accident. On admission, he was hemodynamically unstable, and massive transfusion and noradrenaline were administered immediately. Although ST elevation was present in leads II, III, aVF, V5, and V6, cardiac function was preserved; thus, trans-arterial embolization and external fixation for pelvic fracture were given priority. Four days after the injury, he suffered a cardiac arrest, and coronary angiography revealed that the cause of ST e...

Optical Coherence Tomography-Guided or Intravascular Ultrasound Guided Percutaneous Coronary Intervention: The OCTIVUS Randomized Clinical Trial
Conclusions: In patients with significant coronary-artery lesions, OCT-guided PCI was noninferior to IVUS-guided PCI with respect to the incidence of a composite of death from cardiac causes, target-vessel-related myocardial infarction, or ischemia-driven target-vessel revascularization at 1 year. The selected study population and lower than expected event rates should be considered in interpreting the trial.PMID:37634092 | DOI:10.1161/CIRCULATIONAHA.123.066429
