Patient blood management, an essential step in enhanced recovery after surgery programs
Background: The aim of perioperative medicine is to provide comprehensive, patient-centred care through 2 multimodal, multidimensional programmes: enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) and patient blood management (PBM). The aim of ERAS programmes is to improve outcomes and optimize patient recovery by reducing the stress response to surgery. The aim of PBM programmes is to improve outcomes by boosting and conserving the patient's own blood. Both programmes require a multidisciplinary effort throughout the perioperative process, which often makes their actual implementation difficult.

The pilot study of ERAD method on inpatients in internal medicine department: A retrospective study
Background: Enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) is a standard procedure for perioperative patient management. By taking patients as the center, evidence-based medical evidence as the basis, social and scientific development situation as the orientation, humanistic construction and lean management as the entry point, and personnel training and discipline construction as the cornerstone, Enhanced recovery after diseases (ERAD) can further improve the medical outcomes of patients and reduce medical costs.

The role of autophagy in the treatment of type II diabetes and its complications: a review
Type II diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a chronic metabolic disease characterized by prolonged hyperglycemia and insulin resistance (IR). Its incidence is increasing annually, posing a significant threat to human life and health. Consequently, there is an urgent requirement to discover effective drugs and investigate the pathogenesis of T2DM. Autophagy plays a crucial role in maintaining normal islet structure. However, in a state of high glucose, autophagy is inhibited, resulting in impaired islet function, insulin resistance, and complications. Studies have shown that modulating autophagy through activation or inhibition can...

Fibroblast Growth Factor Receptor 2 (FGFR2), a New Gene Involved in the Genesis of Autism Spectrum Disorder
AbstractAutism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a long-known complex neurodevelopmental disorder, and over the past decades, with the enhancement of the research genomic techniques, has been the object of intensive research activity, and many genes involved in the development and functioning of the central nervous system have been related to ASD genesis. Herein, we report a patient with severe ASD carrying a G  >  A de novo variant in theFGFR2 gene, determining a missense mutation.FGFR2 encodes for the ubiquitous fibroblast growth factor receptor (FGFR) type 2, a tyrosine kinase receptor implicated in several biological p...

Advancing microbiome research with machine learning: key findings from the ML4Microbiome COST action
The rapid development of machine learning (ML) techniques has opened up the data-dense field of microbiome research for novel therapeutic, diagnostic, and prognostic applications targeting a wide range of disorders, which could substantially improve healthcare practices in the era of precision medicine. However, several challenges must be addressed to exploit the benefits of ML in this field fully. In particular, there is a need to establish “gold standard” protocols for conducting ML analysis experiments and improve interactions between microbiome researchers and ML experts. The Machine Learning Techniques in Human Mi...

Eucommia ulmoides Oliver repairs the disorder of intestinal microflora caused by high starch in Micropterus salmoides and improves resistance to pathogens
This study examined the changes in intestinal structure as well as intestinal flora before and after the addition of EuO to high-starch diets and analyzed the effects of such changes on immune and digestive functions. The results showed that EuO reduces mortality during Nocardia seriolae attack and can reduce starch-induced intestinal inflammation. Eucommia ulmoides Oliver supplementation was able to alter the changes of intestinal flora in fatty acid degradation, bacterial chemotaxis, porphyrin metabolism and flagella assembly caused by high starch. By analyzing the abundance and correlation of bacterial communities, thre...
