Impact of preoperative spinal injections within 30 days of lumbar decompression on surgical outcomes: a matched institutional study
CONCLUSIONS: Lumbar decompression within 1 month of preoperative spinal injection was associated with higher risks of readmission and postoperative complications, including CSF leak. However, with the exception of CSF leak, these risks were no longer observed when spinal injection occurred 1-3 months prior to lumbar decompression.PMID:37728375 | DOI:10.3171/2023.6.SPINE23356

Oil structuring from porous starch to powdered oil: Role of multi-scale structure in the oil adsorption and distribution
This study compared the role of multi-scale structure of porous starch (PS) prepared by normal and waxy maize starch in the oil adsorption. Waxy maize porous starch exhibited higher oil adsorption capacity (32.43 %-98.71 %) and more oil distributed on the surface of granules than normal maize porous starch, resulting from the more pores, larger specific surface area (1.01-1.53 m2/g), and pore size (8.45-9.32 nm). Xanthan and gum acacia modified olive oil based nanoemulsion as a controlled delivery vehicle for topical formulations
In this study, olive oil nanoemulsion modified with xanthan gum and gum acacia was explored as a potential controlled topical delivery vehicle. Oil-in-water nanoemulsion formulated with optimized composition of olive oil, tween 80, and water was used as the drug carrier and further modified with gum.
