Antibiotic-Resistant Strains of Helicobacter pylori in 50 Antibiotic Treatment-Naive Children in Northeast Poland Diagnosed by Gastric or Duodenal Biopsy Between February 2019 and May 2022
CONCLUSIONS In this study, conducted for the first time in treatment-naïve children in northeast Poland, we found a high proportion of Helicobacter pylori strains resistant to at least 1 antibiotic. Our results may help in the appropriate choice of antibiotics for treatment of Helicobacter pylori in our region.PMID:37658600 | DOI:10.12659/MSM.941195

Mpox in 2023: Current Epidemiology and Management
AbstractPurpose of ReviewThe 2022 global mpox outbreak is a significant public health challenge. This review provides a summary of recent advancements in mpox phylogenetics, epidemiology, transmission, clinical presentation, treatment, and vaccination.Recent FindingsThe 2022 outbreak saw a shift in epidemiology, with human-to-human transmission, particularly among men who have sex with men (MSM), becoming the primary mode of spread. Among IIb.B.1 sequences, there is evidence for an emerging human-adapted monkeypox virus (MPXV). Antiviral treatments like tecovirimat have shown promise in severe cases. Two doses of the non-r...

Editorial: A Rapid Global Increase in COVID-19 is Due to the Emergence of the EG.5 (Eris) Subvariant of Omicron SARS-CoV-2
Med Sci Monit. 2023 Sep 1;29:e942244. doi: 10.12659/MSM.942244.ABSTRACTA new variant of SARS-CoV-2 has currently achieved global domination. EG.5 (Eris) was first reported by the World Health Organization (WHO) on February 17, 2023, and designated as a variant under monitoring (VUM) on July 19, 2023. EG.5 (Eris), and its sublineages, EG.5.1, EG.5.1.1, and EG.5.2, is a descendent lineage of XBB.1.9.2, which has the same spike amino acid profile as XBB.1.5 (Kraken). However, EG.5 (Eris) has an additional F456L amino acid mutation in the spike protein compared to these parent subvariants, and the subvariant EG.5.1 has another...

Complex Blood Supply Patterns in Cesarean Scar Pregnancy: Insights from Digital Subtraction Angiography Imaging
CONCLUSIONS UAE is safe and effective for both types of CSP. The blood supply pattern is more complex and abnormal in type II CSP. More attention should be paid to the collateral blood supply to achieve complete embolization during the UAE procedure in the case of type II CSP.PMID:37653724 | DOI:10.12659/MSM.940133
