Scoping review on Physical Health Conditions in Irish Travellers (Minceiri)
Conclusions Overall, Irish Travellers experience a disproportionate burden of physical health conditions compared with background populations. Healthcare providers need to be aware of the unique physical health burden experienced by many Irish Travellers. Multifaceted strategies are needed to improve the health profile of this vulnerable and marginalised group.

SIgA in various pulmonary diseases
Eur J Med Res. 2023 Aug 27;28(1):299. doi: 10.1186/s40001-023-01282-5.ABSTRACTSecretory immunoglobulin A (SIgA) is one of the most abundant immunoglobulin subtypes among mucosa, which plays an indispensable role in the first-line protection against invading pathogens and antigens. Therefore, the role of respiratory SIgA in respiratory mucosal immune diseases has attracted more and more attention. Although the role of SIgA in intestinal mucosal immunity has been widely studied, the cell types responsible for SIgA and the interactions between cells are still unclear. Here, we conducted a wide search of relevant studies and s...

Mycobacterium tuberculosis Rv2324 is a multifunctional feast/famine regulatory protein involved in growth, DNA replication and damage control
Int J Biol Macromol. 2023 Aug 25:126459. doi: 10.1016/j.ijbiomac.2023.126459. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTFeast/famine regulatory proteins (FFRPs) are multifunctional regulators. We show that Mtb Rv2324 is important for growth, survival, and countering DNA damage in Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb). DNA-relaxation activity against linear and supercoiled substrates suggest its involvement in transcription activation, while its high affinity for recombination, replication and repair substrates suggest a role there too. Small-Angle-X-ray scattering supports the adoption of an 'open' quaternary association in response to ami...

Although the role of SIgA in intestinal mucosal immunity has been widely studied, the cell types responsible for SIgA and the interactions between cells are still unclear. Enhancing Diagnostic Accuracy for Lung Cancer through Combined Detection of Multiple Tumor Markers
CONCLUSIONS: CYFRA21-1 combined with CEA assists in diagnosing LADC, CYFRA21-1 combined with SCCAg assists in diagnosing LSCC, and CA153 assists in diagnosing SCLC. These four serum tumor markers can be used to aid in diagnosing LC and differentiating its pathological types.PMID:37632966

Amino Acid Profiling as A Screening and Prognostic Biomarker in Active Tuberculosis Patients
CONCLUSIONS: Taken together, amino acid profiling can be used for TB screening, and a multiparameter profiling model is better. The profiling can also reflect the severity of lung damage. Moreover, the amino acid profile is useful for reflecting the efficacy of TB treatment.PMID:37625512 | DOI:10.1016/j.cca.2023.117523

Impact of Genomic Deletion RD16 on the Expression of the < em > Mycobacterium bovis < /em > BCG Moreau VapBC47 Toxin-Antitoxin System
Curr Issues Mol Biol. 2023 Aug 7;45(8):6538-6549. doi: 10.3390/cimb45080412.ABSTRACTMycobacterium bovis BCG is the only vaccine against tuberculosis. The variable forms of cultivation throughout the years, before seed-lots were developed, allowed in vitro evolution of the original strain, generating a family of vaccines with different phenotypic and genotypic characteristics. Molecular studies revealed regions of difference (RDs) in the genomes of the various BCG strains. This work aims to characterize the gene pair rv3407-rv3408 (vapB47-vapC47), coding for a toxin-antitoxin system of the VapBC family, and to evaluate poss...
