Dynamics of γ-aminobutyric acid concentration in the human brain in response to short visual stimulation
CONCLUSION: The quick response of the observed GABA concentration to the short stimulus is most likely due to a release of GABA from vesicles followed by its packaging back into vesicles.PMID:37715877 | DOI:10.1007/s10334-023-01118-7

Individualizing Breast Cancer Risk Assessment in Clinical Practice
Surg Oncol Clin N Am. 2023 Oct;32(4):647-661. doi: 10.1016/j.soc.2023.05.013. Epub 2023 Jul 6.ABSTRACTMultiple tools exist to assess a patient's breast cancer risk. The choice of risk model depends on the patient's risk factors and how the calculation will impact care. High-risk patients-those with a lifetime breast cancer risk of ≥20%-are, for instance, eligible for supplemental screening with breast magnetic resonance imaging. Those with an elevated short-term breast cancer risk (frequently defined as a 5-year risk ≥1.66%) should be offered endocrine prophylaxis. High-risk patients should also receive guidance on mod...

Melanin-targeted < sup > 18 < /sup > F-PFPN PET imaging may shed light for clear cell sarcoma
CONCLUSION: Melanin-targeted [18F]-PFPN PET imaging is feasible for the diagnosis of CCS. Different imaging features were displayed on [18F]-PFPN and [18F]-FDG PET imaging, demonstrating the complementary role of the tracers. Combined use of the two imaging modalities would be preferred in patients with CCS.CLINICAL TRIAL REGISTRATION: NCT05963035.PMID:37714979 | DOI:10.1007/s00259-023-06439-2

Physical model-based cascaded generative adversarial networks for accelerating quantitative multi-parametric magnetic resonance imaging
CONCLUSION: Compared with other existing methods, the physical model-based cascaded generative adversarial networks can reconstruct more image details and features, thus improving the quality and accuracy of the reconstructed images.PMID:37712278 | DOI:10.12122/j.issn.1673-4254.2023.08.18

A Dual-Aware deep learning framework for identification of glioma isocitrate dehydrogenase genotype using magnetic resonance amide proton transfer modalities
CONCLUSION: The proposed deep learning algorithm model constructed based on the image characteristics of the APT modality is effective for glioma IDH genotyping and identification task and may potentially replace the commonly used T1CE modality to avoid contrast agent injection and achieve non- invasive IDH genotyping.PMID:37712275 | DOI:10.12122/j.issn.1673-4254.2023.08.15

ANGPTL3 Deficiency and Risk of Hepatic Steatosis
CONCLUSIONS: ANGPTL3 deficiency related to LoF mutations in ANGPTL3, as well as genetically determined reduction of plasma ANGPTL3 levels, is not associated with hepatic steatosis. Therapeutic approaches to inhibit ANGPTL3 production in hepatocytes are not necessarily expected to result in the increased risk for hepatic steatosis that was observed with vupanorsen.PMID:37712257 | DOI:10.1161/CIRCULATIONAHA.123.065866

Tumoral and peritumoral vascularization of brain tumours: a study comparing an intraoperative ultrasensitive Doppler and a preoperative first-pass perfusion MRI
CONCLUSION: There was a good correlation between a tumor FMBV obtained by a USD intraoperatively and rCCBV on a preoperative MRI validating the reliability of USD for intraoperative analyses of tumor microvascularization in gliomas.PMID:37714376 | DOI:10.1016/j.neuchi.2023.101493

Effect of dominant vertebral artery angle on basilar artery curvature and plaque
CONCLUSIONS: The dominant VA angle was independently associated with BA plaque, and a dominant VA angle greater than 80° may be a marker for a high risk of posterior circulation atherosclerosis.PMID:37711832 | PMC:PMC10498226 | DOI:10.21037/qims-23-74

Safety, accuracy, and prediction of prognosis in patients with end-stage chronic kidney disease undergoing dobutamine stress cardiac magnetic resonance imaging
DISCUSSION: Dobutamine stress CMR is a safe and accurate diagnostic imaging technique in patients at advanced stages of chronic kidney disease. A reduced ejection fraction and the inability to reach the target heart rate are independent predictors of a poor outcome.PMID:37711564 | PMC:PMC10498284 | DOI:10.3389/fcvm.2023.1228691
