The quality and clinical translation of radiomics studies based on MRI for predicting Ki-67 levels in patients with breast cancer
CONCLUSION: Ki-67 index is a common tumor biomarker with high clinical value. Radiomics is an ever-growing quantitative data-mining method helping predict tumor biomarkers from medical images. However, the quality of the reviewed studies evaluated by the RQS was not so satisfactory and there are ample opportunities for improvement. Open science and data, external validation, phantom study, publicly open radiomics database and standardization in the radiomics practice are what researchers should pay more attention to in the future.ADVANCES IN KNOWLEDGE: The RQS tool considered the radiomics used to predict the Ki-67 level w...

Emerging insights and global trends in the relationship between selenium and thyroid diseases: A bibliometric analysis
Conclusion: This paper analyzes the current status, insights, and trends of the studies on selenium and thyroid diseases by the method of bibliometrics and delivers ideas and methods for subsequent research in this field. The therapeutic effect of selenium on Hashimoto's thyroiditis is controversial and needs further research, and oxidative stress is also a research hotspot in this field. The cross-study of multiple trace elements and diseases may be the development trend in the future.PMID:37723633 | DOI:10.2174/1871530323666230918121353

Differences in Child Language Assessment Practices Between School-Based and Non-School-Based Speech-Language Pathologists: Results From a Nationwide Survey
CONCLUSIONS: SLPs practicing in school-based settings seem to handle more employment-based factors that impact independent diagnostic decision making than SLPs working in different employment settings when assessing children for potential language disorders. Clinical recommendations are provided, and implications for implementation-based assessment research in child language are discussed.PMID:37725559 | DOI:10.1044/2023_LSHSS-22-00185

Risk Factors for Breast Cancer-Related Lymphedema: An Umbrella Review
CONCLUSIONS: The currently identified risk factors for BCRL all are innate personal trait-related factors. Future well-designed studies and robust meta-analyses are needed to explore potential associations between behavioral-, interpersonal-, and environmental-related factors and BCRL, as well as the role of genetic variations and pathophysiologic factors.PMID:37725224 | DOI:10.1245/s10434-023-14277-7

Efficacy and safety of omega-3 fatty acids supplementation on depression: a systematic review and dose-response meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials
Br J Nutr. 2023 Sep 20:1-36. doi: 10.1017/S0007114523002052. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTWe aimed to investigate the effectiveness of omega-3 fatty acids supplementation on the risk of developing depression, depressive symptoms and remission of depression. We searched PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science from inception to December 2022 to find randomized trials of omega-3 fatty acids supplementation in adults. We conducted random-effects meta-analyses to estimate standardized mean differences (SMD) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for continuous outcomes and risk difference and 95%CI for binary outcomes. A total of 67 tr...

Mouse tracking performance: A new approach to analyzing continuous mouse tracking data
Behav Res Methods. 2023 Sep 19. doi: 10.3758/s13428-023-02210-5. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTMouse tracking is an important source of data in cognitive science. Most contemporary mouse tracking studies use binary-choice tasks and analyze the curvature or velocity of an individual mouse movement during an experimental trial as participants select from one of the two options. However, there are many types of mouse tracking data available beyond what is produced in a binary-choice task, including naturalistic data from web users. In order to utilize these data, cognitive scientists need tools that are robust to the lack of ...

A systematic review of data elements of computerized physician order entry (CPOE): mapping the data to FHIR
CONCLUSIONS: The results of this study showed that the same data elements were not used in the CPOE systems, and the degree of homogeneity of these systems is limited. The mapping of extracted data with data elements used in the FHIR standard shows the extent to which these systems comply with existing standards. Considering the standards in these systems' design helps developers design more coherent systems that can share data with other systems.PMID:37723918 | DOI:10.1080/17538157.2023.2255285

Scientometric Evaluation of the Itch Mite, < em > Sarcoptes scabiei < /em > (Acari: Sarcoptidae): The Last Four Decades of Global Academic Output on Scabies
CONCLUSION: The majority of the studies were done in a given country while multicenter studies are very rare. It is recommended that more studies should be conducted on scabiosis in developing countries where the problem of scabies is the biggest.PMID:37724367 | DOI:10.4274/tpd.galenos.2023.51423

Serum branched amino acids and the risk of all-cause mortality: a meta-analysis and systematic review
Amino Acids. 2023 Sep 19. doi: 10.1007/s00726-023-03329-7. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTRecently, the serum levels of branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) have been considered as an indicator to evaluate health status and predict chronic diseases risk. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to assess the relationship between Serum BCAAs and the risk of all-cause mortality. We carried out a comprehensive and systematic search in various important databases, including PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science databases to find the relevant studies published up to October 2022 with no language, design, or time limitation. We ...

Women's experiences of primary dysmenorrhea symptoms: a systematic review of qualitative evidence and meta-aggregation
Women Health. 2023 Sep 14;63(8):658-668. doi: 10.1080/03630242.2023.2255289. Epub 2023 Sep 19.ABSTRACTPrimary dysmenorrhea (PD) has a significant impact on women's lives, especially among young women who miss school and work due to painful periods. Experiences and how women manage PD have been explored to some extent, but the evidence has not been systematically collated and reviewed to allow health professionals to better understand women's experiences of and perceptions about PD. Hence, we aim to synthesize the qualitative evidence related to women's experiences of PD and associated symptoms. For this purpose, seven data...

Patient-reported reactogenicity and safety of COVID-19 vaccinations vs. comparator vaccinations: a comparative observational cohort study
CONCLUSION: The rate of adverse reactions after established vaccinations was roughly comparable to previous studies. Two weeks after vaccination, participants in the SARS-CoV-2 vaccination group reported more local and systemic local reactions than participants in the comparator group. In the further course, however, there were no higher odds of medical consultations in either of the two groups. Thus, altogether, we assume comparable safety.TRIAL REGISTRATION: DRKS-ID DRKS00025881 and DRKS-ID DRKS00025373.PMID:37726711 | DOI:10.1186/s12916-023-03064-6

Incremental yield of whole genome sequencing over chromosome microarray and exome sequencing for congenital anomalies in prenatal period and infancy: systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: Whilst WGS investigation for congenital anomaly holds great promise, for the future, its' incremental yield over ES is yet to be demonstrated. However, the laboratory pathway for WGS (compared to sequential QF-PCR/CMA/ES) requires less DNA with a potentially faster TAT. There was a relatively high rate of VUS.
