A rare combination of atypical cerebral vascular anatomy.
Abstract A 57-year-old woman presented with neurologic deficits consistent with a cerebrovascular accident. Her workup demonstrated the simultaneous occurrence of three uncommon cerebrovascular congenital anomalies in a single patient: (1) persistent trigeminal artery, (2) persistent fetal origin of the posterior cerebral artery and (3) bilateral occurrence of the vertebral arteries terminating in the posterior inferior cerebellar arteries. These persistent fetal cerebrovascular anatomic variants are reviewed and the clinical relevance discussed. PMID: 25414171 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Outcome of the FUSION vascular graft for above-knee femoropopliteal bypass
Although endovascular procedures have become popular for the treatment of patients with femoropopliteal occlusive disease, open surgical bypass is still required in a significant proportion of patients. Saphenous vein is the conduit of choice, but prosthetic bypass grafts are often necessary. The Peripheral Bypass Grafting: Prospective Evaluation of FUSION Vascular Graft for Above Knee Targets (PERFECTION) trial was performed to assess the clinical outcome of the FUSION vascular graft (Maquet Cardiovascular, Wayne, NJ), a novel bilayer prosthetic graft with an external expanded polytetrafluoroethylene inner layer and an ou...

Participation in the Vascular Quality Initiative is associated with improved perioperative medication use, which is associated with longer patient survival
Medical management (MM) with antiplatelet (AP) and statin therapy is recommended for most patients undergoing vascular surgery and has been advocated by the Vascular Quality Initiative (VQI). We analyzed the effect of VQI participation on perioperative (preoperative and postoperative) MM use over time and the effect of discharge MM on patient survival.

Outcomes of completion imaging for lower extremity bypass in the Vascular Quality Initiative
The objective of this study was to determine the association of intraoperative completion imaging (CI) for lower extremity vein bypass to a below-knee target with primary patency in the Vascular Quality Initiative.

Review of Vascular Anterior Exposure for Anterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion
This retrospective review evaluated and reviewed the vascular exposures performed at a tertiary institution from January 2010 to April 2015. This allowed us to determine the factors that affect patient outcome.

Preoperative antiplatelet and statin treatment was not associated with reduced myocardial infarction after high-risk vascular operations in the Vascular Quality Initiative
Medical management with antiplatelet (AP) and statin therapy is recommended for nearly all patients undergoing vascular surgery to reduce cardiovascular events. We assessed the association between preoperative use of AP and statin medications and postoperative in-hospital myocardial infarction (MI) in patients undergoing high-risk open surgery.
