Profile of peripheral vascular changes in crack-cocaine addicts receiving treatment at a Psychosocial Care Center for Alcohol and Drugs
Conclusions Crack users exhibit peripheral vascular disorders. Length of time since starting to use the drug had the greatest impact on this system, suggesting an association between crack use and reduced arterial flow.

Improving a training model for vascular surgical techniques
We describe a low-cost model for training vascular surgical techniques. The model is constructed from cylindrical latex balloons filled with gelatin and fixed to a board for support. Arterial sutures, end-to-side and end-to-end anastomoses, patch, vascular shunt placement, and thromboembolectomy were simulated.

Peripheral vascular insufficiency impairs functional capacity in patients with heart failure
CONCLUSIONS: The study participants who had mixed disease exhibited a greater degree of functional impairment than the group with HF, without reporting worsened quality of life. OBJETIVO: Comparar as limitações funcionais e ...

Post-kidney transplantation external iliac artery stenosis due to vascular clamp: report of a case
We report a case of right external iliac artery stenosis after kidney transplantation surgery caused by vascular clamp application injury. The patient presented with claudication of the ipsilateral lower limb and the lesion was diagnosed angiographically. The patient was treated with endovascular stent placement.

Assessment of cardiac influence on peripheral vascular Doppler in the elderly
Conclusions Certain cardiac abnormalities can be identified in elderly patients by analysis of peripheral VUS waveforms. It is important to recognize and report the presence of these abnormalities because there is a possibility that they may serve to signal hitherto unidentified diagnoses in these patients. However, further studies are needed to determine the importance of changes to periphe ral Doppler waveforms to recognition of heart diseases.

Vascular ultrasonographic measurement of diameters of great saphenous veins without reflux in women
Conclusions We observed that the diameters of great saphenous veins free from reflux were independent of CEAP clinical classes 0/1 or 2; age; and height. However, GSV diameters were significantly related to patients ’ BMI.

Technical evaluation of Exoseal-Cordis® vascular closure device
Conclusions In this study, hemostasis by manual compression exhibited equal efficacy to use of a VCD, but the duration of compression and delay before resumption of activity were shorter in the patients for whom the device was employed.

Endovascular treatment of an abdominal aortic aneurysm with aortocaval fistula using a vascular occluder and a bifurcated endograft in a single intervention: case report

Low-cost vascular anastomosis training: the surgeon goes to market
This study was designed to investigate the feasibility of three vegetable models of vascular anastomosis. Five units each of scallions, green beans, and yardlong beans were used. An end-to-end anastomosis was attempted with each specimen. Anastomoses were only successful in green beans and yardlong beans. Since they are narrower, the yardlong beans are the most similar to human vessels.

Acute effects of strength exercise with blood flow restriction on vascular function of young healthy males
Conclusions: The results of this study suggest that one session of low intensity strength training with blood flow restriction does not reduce bioavailability of nitric oxide or induce redox imbalance in healthy young men.

Latex balloons: an alternative, low-cost model for vascular anastomosis training in medical education

WIfI classification: the Society for Vascular Surgery lower extremity threatened limb classification system, a literature review
The objective of this study is to collect together the main points about the WIfI classification that have been discussed in the scientific literature. Most of the studies conducted for validation of this classification system prove its association with factors related to limb salvage, such as amputation rates, amputation-free survival, prediction of reintervention, amputation, and stenosis (RAS) events, and wound healing.

The importance of recognizing antiphospholipid syndrome in vascular medicine
