Vascular physiotherapy for treatment of chronic venous disease: review article
The objective of this literature review was to develop a protocol for treatment with vascular physiotherapy, compiling evidence of the benefits of each vascular physiotherapy technique and suggesting how they can be used for treatment of CVD. This is a review of literature investigating the subject that is listed on the LILACS and SciELO bibliographic databases and was published from 1990 to 2014. The resulting protocol is a proposal for treatment oriented towards the requirements of people with CVD, with the objective of achieving better quality of life.

Lower limb vascular dysfunction in cyclists
Sports-related vascular insufficiency affecting the lower limbs is uncommon, and early signs and symptoms can be confused with musculoskeletal injuries. This is also the case among professional cyclists, who are always at the threshold between endurance and excess training. The aim of this review was to analyze the occurrence of vascular disorders in the lower limbs of cyclists and to discuss possible etiologies. Eighty-five texts, including papers and books, published from 1950 to 2012, were used. According to the literature reviewed, some cyclists receive a late diagnosis of vascular dysfunction due to a lack of familiar...

Peripherally inserted central venous catheters: alternative or first choice vascular access?
Conclusions Ultrasound-guided and fluoroscopy-positioned PICC placement had a low incidence of complications, reduced infection rates, and proved safe and effective in cases of difficult vascular access. PICCs can be considered the devices of choice for central vascular access.

Women in vascular surgery: a brief analysis of the Brazilian profile
Conclusions Despite the limitations of the study population, this preliminary study confirms the idea that female vascular surgeons demonstrate continuous dedication to practicing their specialty and sets a precedent so that further studies can investigate the professional practice of female vascular surgeons in greater detail, stimulating discussion of gender inequalities in medical practice.

Brachial index does not reflect upper extremity functionality following surgery for vascular trauma
CONCLUSIONS: Evaluation of the postoperative outcomes of this small series of patients with penetrating vascular traumas in the upper extremity revealed that 15% of them suffered occlusion of one artery of the upper extremity. Artery occlusion did not correlate with brachial-brachial Doppler index, probably due to rich collateral circulation, but occlusion was associated with an extremity that was dysfunctional for the purposes of daily work. The result of the brachial-brachial index does not therefore correlate with functionality.

Innovations in vascular and endovascular surgery in Brazil: a data analysis study
Conclusions: The social and economic importance of innovations in health care highlights the need to monitor them, to register them and to support their production, in view of the need to develop local alternatives to imported health care technology.

Vascular Forum: collective intelligence in the resolution of vascular clinical cases
Conclusions Interaction between ex perts using instant messaging technology proved capable of raising subjects for discussion and eliciting management approaches quickly. The rate of resolution, defined as the time taken for the first correct answer to be posted, was also high. The Vascular Forum proved to be a tool of great clinical value for its participants, confirming the importance of collective intelligence in medicine.

The role of vascular echography in the management of complications associated with central venous access for hemodialysis in cancer patients: two case reports and literature review
O segundo c...

The impact of technology on treatment of iatrogenic cervicothoracic vascular traumas: a study of two cases three decades apart and a review of the literature
No segundo caso,...

Anatomic variant of the internal jugular vein and its importance in vascular access for hemodialysis

Anatomical variations of tibial vessels: differential diagnosis of deep vein thrombosis by vascular ultrasound
CONCLUSION: Although a rare condition, found in only 0.41% of the cases, awareness of posterior vein absence may help to avoid misdiagnoses and false-positive results of DVT in patients with this variation.

Importance of GLUT1 in differential diagnosis of vascular anomalies
This article presents a review of the literature on this protein as an effective tool for identification and possible differential diagnosis between several VAs.As anomalias vasculares (AVs) incluem um grupo de lesões distintas, como as más formações congênitas e os tumores vasculares benignos ou malignos. A ...
