Individual differences in late positive potential amplitude and theta power predict cue-induced eating
This study aimed at investigating how individual differences in affective and cognitive responses to cues predicting food rewards contribute to the regulation of cue-induced eating. We recorded electroencephalogram (EEG) from 59 adults while they viewed emotional and food-related images that preceded the delivery of food rewards (candies) or non-food objects (beads). We measured the amplitude of the late positive potential (LPP) in response to a variety of motivationally relevant images and power in the theta (4-8 Hz) frequency band after candies or beads were dispensed to the participants. We found that individuals with l...

Comorbidity between major depressive disorder and physical diseases: a comprehensive review of epidemiology, mechanisms and management
World Psychiatry. 2023 Oct;22(3):366-387. doi: 10.1002/wps.21110.ABSTRACTPopulations with common physical diseases - such as cardiovascular diseases, cancer and neurodegenerative disorders - experience substantially higher rates of major depressive disorder (MDD) than the general population. On the other hand, people living with MDD have a greater risk for many physical diseases. This high level of comorbidity is associated with worse outcomes, reduced adherence to treatment, increased mortality, and greater health care utilization and costs. Comorbidity can also result in a range of clinical challenges, such as a more com...

Current treatment landscape of HR+/HER2- advanced breast cancer in the Nordics: a modified Delphi study
DISCUSSION: ET in combination with a CDK4/6 inhibitor is the preferred frontline treatment for HR+/HER2- aBC in the Nordics. The observed discrepancy between current guidelines and clinical practice could be due to differences in the reimbursement of novel treatments in the Nordics. Collaborative research efforts are warranted for topics that lack consensus.PMID:37713138 | DOI:10.1080/0284186X.2023.2254475

A Dual-Aware deep learning framework for identification of glioma isocitrate dehydrogenase genotype using magnetic resonance amide proton transfer modalities
CONCLUSION: The proposed deep learning algorithm model constructed based on the image characteristics of the APT modality is effective for glioma IDH genotyping and identification task and may potentially replace the commonly used T1CE modality to avoid contrast agent injection and achieve non- invasive IDH genotyping.PMID:37712275 | DOI:10.12122/j.issn.1673-4254.2023.08.15

Bioluminescence Imaging with Functional Amyloid Reservoirs in Alzheimer's Disease Models
Anal Chem. 2023 Sep 15. doi: 10.1021/acs.analchem.3c02358. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTBioluminescence imaging has changed the daily practice of preclinical research on cancer and other diseases over the last few decades; however, it has rarely been applied in preclinical research on Alzheimer's disease (AD). In this Article, we demonstrated that bioluminescence imaging could be used to report the levels of amyloid beta (Aβ) species in vivo. We hypothesized that AkaLumine, a newly discovered substrate for luciferase, could bind to Aβ aggregates and plaques. We further speculated that the Aβ aggregates/fibrils/plaques ...
