Validating a machine-learning model for first-trimester prediction of pre-eclampsia using the cohort from the PREVAL study
CONCLUSION: A machine learning model for first-trimester prediction of PE based on a neural network provides effective screening for PE that can be applied in different populations but before doing so it is essential to make adjustments for the analyzers used for biochemical testing. Determination of cefuroxime in breast milk by LC-MS/MS using SALLME technique
In this study, we aimed to develop the LC-MS/MS method using salt-assisted liquid-liquid micro-extraction (SALLME) for the determination of cefuroxime in breast milk. The method was validated according to the European Medicines Agency (EMA) guidelines. Cefuroxime and the internal standard cefixime were extracted from plasma by a SALLME technique. The results obtained from the entire validation study are at an acceptable level according to the EMA criteria. The calibration curve of cefuroxime was between 25 and 1000 ng/ml, with correlation coefficients of >0.99. The lower limit of quantitation was 25 ng/ml for cefuroxime...

Screening for pre-eclampsia with competing risks model using placental growth factor measurements in blood samples collected before 11  weeks' gestation
CONCLUSIONS: Gestational age for PlGF samples might be expanded from 11-14 weeks to 10-14 weeks in risk assessment for preeclampsia using the FMF first trimester screening model. There is little evidence to support the use of PlGF collected before 10 weeks' gestation. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.PMID:37698230 | DOI:10.1002/uog.27462

Noninvasive screening of fetal RHD genotype in Chinese pregnant women with serologic RhD-negative phenotype
CONCLUSION: On the basis of maternal RHD genotyping, fetal genotyping through qPCR or high-throughput sequencing can improve the accuracy and success rate of prenatal fetal RhD phenotype prediction among Chinese pregnant women. It plays a potential role in guiding anti-D prophylaxis and pregnancy management in Chinese pregnant women.PMID:37698267 | DOI:10.1111/trf.17545

Preabortion ultrasound - a patient perspective
CONCLUSION: Most women opting for medical abortion through telemedicine did not undergo a pre-abortion ultrasound scan. The main reason stated was that women did not find it necessary, lack of resources and privacy issues.PMID:37698511 | DOI:10.1080/13625187.2023.2249158

Gut microbiota and hypertensive disorders in pregnancy: evidence from the mendelian randomization study
CONCLUSIONS: This study first applied the MR approach to detect the causal relationships between GM and specific HDP subtypes. Our findings may promote the prevention and treatment of HDP targeted on GM and provide valuable insights to understand the mechanism of HDP in different subtypes from the perspective of GM.PMID:37698537 | DOI:10.18632/aging.205019

Evaluation of pregnancy per artificial insemination of dairy animals detected in estrus during the synchronization protocol and assigned to conventional or sexed semen
Anim Reprod Sci. 2023 Aug 30;257:107324. doi: 10.1016/j.anireprosci.2023.107324. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThree experiments were designed to evaluate the effects of conventional and sexed-semen on reproductive performance of dairy females detected in estrus. In Exp. 1, 978 lactating Holstein cows and 116 Holstein heifers were used. Cows or heifers were randomly assigned to receive conventional (CONV) or sexed (SEXD) semen on day 0 of a TAI protocol. The TAI was performed using commercial CONV or SEXD frozen-thawed semen from the same 6 Holstein bulls, and SEXD semen was sexed through fluorescence cytometry. In Exp. 2,...
