Effect of a Family Pharmacist System on Medication Adherence of Patients with Dyslipidemia during a COVID-19 Epidemic
In this study, using anonymously processed receipt data from 700 insurance pharmacies in our group, we evaluated medication adherence in patients taking statin drugs before, during the first and second years of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) epidemic in terms of medication persistence and medication possession, and compared the results between the family pharmacist group (FP group) and non-family pharmacist group (NoFP group). The odds ratios of good medication adherence (medication persistence and medication possession) rates for the FP group relative to the NoFP group were 1.446 [95% confidence interval (CI): 1.210-...

TFOS lifestyle report executive summary: A lifestyle epidemic - Ocular surface disease
This article presents an Executive Summary of the evidence-based conclusions and recommendations of the 10-chapter TFOS Lifestyle Workshop report. Lifestyle factors described within the report include contact lenses, cosmetics, digital environment, elective medications and procedures, environmental conditions, lifestyle challenges, nutrition, and societal challenges. Each topic area chapter comprises a narrative-style review of the current literature and seeks to answer a key topic-specific question using systematic review methodology. How economic policy uncertainty and geopolitical risk affect environmental pollution: does renewable energy consumption matter?
This study uses the novel econometric methodologies of the dynamic ordinary least square (DOLS) estimator, the augmented mean group (AMG) estimator, and the fully modified ordinary least square (FMOLS) estimate to examine the influence of economic policy uncertainty, renewable energy consumption, geopolitical risk, non-renewable energy consumption, and economic growth on ecological footprint from 2000 to 2021. The results reveal that the variables are co-integrated; REC reduces carbon emissions, EPU, geopolitical risk, and economic growth contribute to increasing carbon emissions, while urbanization improves carbon emissio...

CUR-N399, a PI4KB inhibitor, for the treatment of Enterovirus A71 infection
In this study, we investigate the antiviral efficacy of a novel PI4KB inhibitor, CUR-N399. We found that CUR-N399 displayed broad-spectrum antiviral activity against picornaviruses in cell culture models. Using a suckling mouse model of lethal EV-A71 infection, CUR-N399 was found to be well-tolerated, promote survival and reduce viral titre mice organs. Together, these support the discovery of CUR-N399 as an antiviral against EV-A71 and potentially other closely related viruses.PMID:37657668 | DOI:10.1016/j.antiviral.2023.105713

Factors that impact on recruitment to vaccine trials in the context of a pandemic or epidemic: a qualitative evidence synthesis
CONCLUSIONS: This review identifies many of the factors that influence a person's decision to take part in a vaccine trial, and these reflect findings from reviews that examine trials more broadly. However, we also recognise some factors that become more important in connection with a vaccine trial in the context of a pandemic or epidemic. These factors include the potential stigma of taking part, the possible adverse effects of a vaccine, the added motivation for helping society, the role of community leaders in trial dissemination, and the level of trust placed in governments and companies developing vaccines. These spec...

Genomic epidemiology unveils the dynamics and spatial corridor behind the Yellow Fever virus outbreak in Southern Brazil
This study illustrates that genomics linked with eco-epidemiology can provide new insights into the landscape of YFV transmission, augmenting traditional approaches to infectious disease surveillance and control.PMID:37656782 | DOI:10.1126/sciadv.adg9204
