Ultrasound Microvessel Visualization in Cervical Cancer: Association Between Novel Ultrasound Techniques and Histologic Microvessel Densities
CONCLUSION: These findings validate the superiority and accuracy of MBVEGFR2-based USMI for microvessel imaging and monitoring of angiogenesis in cervical cancer compared with SMI and MBCon. Nonetheless, SMI remains an alternative to microvessel imaging when ultrasonic contrast agent use is contraindicated.PMID:37730477 | DOI:10.1016/j.ultrasmedbio.2023.08.017

Microfragmented adipose tissue in the treatment of a full-thickness supraspinatus tear: a case report
Regen Med. 2023 Sep 20. doi: 10.2217/rme-2023-0086. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTA 70-year-old female presented with an 8-month history of right anterior shoulder pain and weakness, unresolved with conservative management. Among other shoulder pathology, the patient was diagnosed with a full-thickness supraspinatus tear and elected to proceed with the microfragmented adipose tissue procedure to treat the injured tendon and nearby relevant structures. Improvements in pain and function were documented along with progressive healing of the supraspinatus on ultrasound and MRI following the procedure. This case demonstrates th...

Congenital brachial artery occlusion causing neonatal forearm compartment syndrome
We report four patients who presented at birth with absent wrist pulses. We propose management recommendations that include anti-coagulation, duplex ultrasound assessment and fasciotomy surgery as early as is safe and possible.PMID:37728888 | DOI:10.1177/17531934231200530

The ultrasound assessment of osteoarthritis: the current status
AbstractTraditionally, osteoarthritis (OA) is diagnosed with the clinical examination supplemented by the conventional radiography (CR). In the research literature, the role of ultrasound (US) imaging in the diagnostics of OA has risen steadily during the last two decades. US imaging is cheap and globally widely available often already in primary healthcare. Here, we reviewed the most essential US literature focusing on OA diagnostics and progression prediction using the various search engines. Starting from the year 2000, our search provided 1 445 journal articles. After reviewing the abstracts, 89 articles were finally i...

A 50-something with Regular Wide Complex Tachycardia: What to do if electrical cardioversion does not work?
Case submitted by anonymous. Written by Smith.  Ken ' s piece at the bottom is excellent.A 50-something presented with sudden onset palpitations 8 hrs prior while sitting at desk at work. He had concurrent sharp substernal chest pain that resolved, but palpitations continued.Over past 3 months, he has had similar intermittent episodes of sharp chest pain while running, but none at rest. Past medical history includes coronary stenting 17 years prior. A brief chart review revealed his most recent echo in 2018, with LV EF 67%, “very small” inferior wall motion abnormality.Initial ED ECG:What do you think? This wa...

Palladium immobilized on guanidine functionalized magnetic nanoparticles: A highly effective and recoverable catalyst for ultrasound aided Suzuki-Miyaura cross coupling reactions
New J. Chem., 2023, Accepted Manuscript DOI: 10.1039/D3NJ03444E, PaperSumanth Hegde, Aatika Nizam, Ajesh Vijayan, Ramesh Dateer, Suresh Babu Naidu Krishna We designed and prepared a novel palladium catalyst that can be magnetically recyclable by anchoring guanidine moiety on the surface of Fe3O4 nanoparticles, and named as Fe3O4@SiO2-TCT-Gua-Pd. It was established... The content of this RSS Feed (c) The Royal Society of Chemistry

Prediction of large-for-gestational age at 36  weeks' gestation: two-dimensional vs three-Dimensional vs magnetic resonance imaging
CONCLUSION: At 36 WG, MRI performs better than 2D-US and 3D-US in predicting birthweight > 95th percentile at birth, especially in patients at high-risk for macrosomia, while 2D-US and 3D-US are comparable. For low-risk patients, the three modalities perform similarly. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.PMID:37725758 | DOI:10.1002/uog.27485

Prospective diagnostic test accuracy of uterosacral ligament and torus uterinus endometriosis using transvaginal ultrasound posterior approach
CONCLUSION: We observed high diagnostic test accuracy of the examined standardized TVS technique for assessing DE of USLs and TU. More studies evaluating this technique should be performed, particularly with less trained observers, before considering this technique as the standard approach.
