The value of radiomics model based on ultrasound image features in the differentiation between minimal breast cancer and small benign breast masses
CONCLUSION: The radiomics model based on ultrasound image features has a satisfied predictive ability for small breast masses, and is expected to become a potential tool for the diagnosis of MBC, and it is a zero cost (in terms of patient participation and imaging time).PMID:37712556 | DOI:10.1002/jcu.23556

Ultrasound assisted adsorption approach for desulfurization of n-heptane using nitrogen-doped magnetic carbon dots nanocomposite
Chemosphere. 2023 Sep 13:140176. doi: 10.1016/j.chemosphere.2023.140176. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTDesulfurization is an important process that not only affects the quality and performances of fuels but also is of great importance from environmental aspects. In this research, nitrogen-doped magnetic carbon dots nanocomposite was synthesized and characterized, and it's potential in adsorptive removal of thiophenes (i.e., thiophene, benzothiophene, and dibenzothiophene) from n-heptane (i.e., as model fuel) was investigated. After optimization of adsorption process, the removal efficiency was obtained above 95% for all of...

Valorization of onion peel waste: From trash to treasure
Chemosphere. 2023 Sep 13:140178. doi: 10.1016/j.chemosphere.2023.140178. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTGlobally, fruit and vegetables are consumed as raw, processed, or as an additive, accounting for approximately 50% of total food wastage. Among the fruits and vegetables, onion is well known for its potential bioactive components; however, peels of onion are a major concern for the environment and food industries. Effective utilization of onion peel methods should be needed to develop value-added products, which are more eco-friendly, cost-effective, and sustainable. Therefore, this review attempts to emphasize the conven...

Ultrasound in the management of patients with psoriatic arthritis: systematic literature review and novel algorithms for pragmatic use
CONCLUSION: The SLR showed the interests in using ultrasound to objectively evaluate PsA for diagnosis and management. We proposed three practical algorithms to guide its use in the clinical management of patients, from the diagnosis to the assessment of treatment response. Further studies are needed to define remission and to assess ultrasound ability to predict disease severity.PMID:37714552 | DOI:10.3899/jrheum.2023-0091

Tumoral and peritumoral vascularization of brain tumours: a study comparing an intraoperative ultrasensitive Doppler and a preoperative first-pass perfusion MRI
CONCLUSION: There was a good correlation between a tumor FMBV obtained by a USD intraoperatively and rCCBV on a preoperative MRI validating the reliability of USD for intraoperative analyses of tumor microvascularization in gliomas.PMID:37714376 | DOI:10.1016/j.neuchi.2023.101493

Glucosylated Hybrid TiO < sub > 2 < /sub > /Polymer Nanomaterials for Actively Targeted Sonodynamic Therapy of Cancer
Small. 2023 Sep 15:e2305475. doi: 10.1002/smll.202305475. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTSonodynamic therapy (SDT) is an anti-cancer therapeutic strategy based on the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) upon local ultrasound (US) irradiation of sono-responsive molecules or nanomaterials that accumulate in the tumor. In this work, the sonodynamic efficiency of sono-responsive hybrid nanomaterials composed of amorphous titanium dioxide and an amphiphilic poly(ethylene oxide)-b-poly(propylene oxide) block copolymer is synthesized, fully characterized, and investigated both in vitro and in vivo. The modular and versatil...

Development of the prosencephalic structures, ganglionic eminence, basal ganglia and thalamus at 11  + 3 to 13 + 6 gestational weeks on 3D transvaginal ultrasound including normative data
CONCLUSION: Transvaginal 3D neurosonography allows visualization and measurement of normal structures in the fetal prosencephalon at 11 + 3 to 13 + 6 weeks of gestation (GW) including details of ganglionic eminence (GE), basal ganglia (BG), and thalamus/hypothalamus (Th/HyT). Further scientific work is needed before using the results to decide on pathological changes in patients.PMID:37712966 | DOI:10.1007/s00429-023-02679-y

Machine Vision and Image Analysis in Anesthesia: Narrative Review and Future Prospects
This article summarizes recently published works of interest, provides a brief overview of techniques used to create machine vision applications, explains frequently used terms, and discusses challenges the specialty will encounter as we embrace the advantages that this technology may bring to future clinical practice and patient care. As machine vision emerges onto the clinical stage, it is critically important that anesthesiologists are prepared to confidently assess which of these devices are safe, appropriate, and bring added value to patient care.PMID:37712476 | DOI:10.1213/ANE.0000000000006679

Immunotherapy for the elderly. Maybe the best option for lung cancer?
Cancer Treat Res Commun. 2023 Sep 12:100762. doi: 10.1016/j.ctarc.2023.100762. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTLung cancer is usually diagnosed at advanced stage and systematic therapy is administered. New current diagnostic techniques such as the convex-endobronchial ultrasound, radial endobronchial ultrasound, cone beam ct, electromagnetic navigation and robotic bronchoscopy provide us with a high diagnostic yield. These techniques are minimal invasive and patients with comorbidities such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and heart failure can be diagnosed with minimal adverse effects. All these techniques provide s...
