The combination of stereolithography (SLA) 3D printing, pyrolysis and hard-templating realizes hierarchically porous carbon microlattices (HPCMLs) that possess porosity in four stages: 3D architecture, macro-, meso-, and micropores. HPCMLs exhibit mechanical robustness with strength of 7.45 –10.45 MPa and functionality as extraordinarily thick electrochemical capacitors with areal capacitance as high as 10 F cm−2 simultaneously. AbstractHierarchically porous carbon microlattices (HPCMLs) fabricated by using a composite photoresin and stereolithography (SLA) 3D printing is reported. Containing magnesium oxide nanopart...

g295A “Win–Win” Strategy to Modify Co/C Foam with Carbon Microspheres for Enhanced Dielectric Loss and Microwave Absorption Characteristics
The construction of 3D Co/C foam and its surface decoration with carbon microspheres are synchronously achieved by a “win–win” strategy. Both Co nanoparticles and carbon microspheres display good dispersity, which improves the graphitization degree of carbon framework and creates abundant heterogeneous interfaces. As a result, the Co/C foam decorated with carbon microspheres gains enhanced dielectric propert y and microwave absorption performance. Abstract3D carbon foams have demonstrated their superiority in the field of microwave absorption recently, but the preparation processes of traditional graphene foams are c...

Ciprofloxacin Derivative ‐Loaded Nanoparticles Synergize with Paclitaxel Against Type II Human Endometrial Cancer
CIP2b synergizes with paclitaxel to combat resistant endometrial cancer. CIP2b-loaded nanoparticles (CIP2b NPs) show several-fold higher intracellular uptake in endometrial cancer cells in vitro, and higher intra-tumoral levels of CIP2b in vivo, compared to unencapsulated CIP2b. CIP2b NPs and paclitaxel significantly slow endometrial cancer tumor growth in mice, compared to paclitaxel with drug-free nanoparticles, or paclitaxel with free unencapsulated CIP2b. AbstractCombinations of chemotherapeutic agents comprise a clinically feasible approach to combat cancers that possess resistance to treatment. Type II endometrial ca...

Plasmon ‐Driven Photochemical Reduction Reaction on Silver Nanostructures for Green Fabrication of Superhydrophobic Surface
A nano-Ag coating with strong localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) in the ultraviolet light (UVA) region is prepared by a water-based silver mirror reaction. UVA irradiation triggers a LSPR-driven reduction reaction, which transforms the hydrophilic absorbates on Ag nanoparticles (NPs) into hydrophobic moieties. Consequently, the generated hydrophobic moieties and hierarchical roughness result in the formation of stable superhydrophobic surface. AbstractGreen fabrication of superhydrophobic surface by water-based processing is still challenging, because introduction of the substances with hydrophilic moieties comprom...

Self ‐Assembly of Selenium‐Doped Carbon Quantum Dots as Antioxidants for Hepatic Ischemia‐Reperfusion Injury Management (Small 30/2023)
Hepatic Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury ManagementSelenium-doped carbon quantum dots (Se-CQDs) with excellent anti-oxidation capability protect hepatocytes from apoptosis by limiting damage from oxidative stress. Se-CQDs-lecithin nanoparticles are developed through a supramolecular self-assembly mainly driven by noncovalent interactions, which effectively scavenge reactive oxygen species and inhibit the release of inflammatory cytokines, thus exerting beneficial therapeutic efficacy on hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury. More details can be found in article number2300217 by Yu Xia, Huaping Xu, Guocan Yu, Zuobing Chen, and co-workers.

Gold Nanoparticle ‐Carrying T Cells for the Combined Immuno‐Photothermal Therapy
In this study, a strategy to boost therapeutic efficacy by combining an immunotherapy based on ex vivo expanded tumor-reactive T cells is devised, or adoptive cell therapy (ACT), with photothermal therapy (PTT). Smart gold nanoparticles (sAuNPs), which aggregates to form gold nanoclusters in the cells, are loaded into T cells, and their photothermal effects within T cells are confirmed. When transferred into tumor-bearing mice, large number of sAuNP-carrying T cells successfully infiltrate into tumor tissues and exert anti-tumor activity to suspend tumor growth, but over time tumor cells evade and regrow. Of note, ≈20% o...
