Pilot randomized trial of an acceptance-based telehealth intervention for women with ovarian cancer and PARP inhibitor-related fatigue
CONCLUSIONS: Among fatigued adults with ovarian cancer on PARPi, a brief, acceptance-based telehealth intervention was feasible, acceptable, and demonstrated preliminary efficacy in improving fatigue interference, severity, and levels. REVITALIZE is a novel, scalable telehealth intervention worthy of further investigation.PMID:37708581 | DOI:10.1016/j.ygyno.2023.08.020

Effects of yoga on anxiety, pain, inflammatory and stress biomarkers in patients undergoing cardiac surgery: A systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: Yoga has been shown to benefit patients undergoing CABG surgery. It can be used as an adjunctive intervention. However, more rigorous randomized controlled trials are required to generate high-quality evidence for yoga interventions.REGISTRATION: PROSPERO CRD42020175833.PMID:37708834 | DOI:10.1016/j.ctcp.2023.101798

An Analysis of Infection Prevention and Control Practices in Designated Hospitals that Treat COVID-19: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
CONCLUSION: Chinese prophylaxis and controlling measures for COVID-19 are mainly to protect vulnerable populations, cut off transmission routes, and control the source of infection. Therefore, we must also do our best to prevent and control novel coronavirus pneumonia to protect our health and reduce the burden on our country.PMID:37708537

Child Mental Health Status in Flint, Michigan: A Worsening Health Inequity, 2018-2022
Conclusions. Our findings reveal a disparate burden of pediatric mental health disorders and exemplify the health inequities vulnerable populations face. Public Health Implications. More proactive and preventive steps should be taken to lessen this burden, especially in chronically disadvantaged communities that experience public health crises. (Am J Public Health. Depression is associated with reduced outcome sensitivity in a dual valence, magnitude learning task
CONCLUSION: These findings suggest that current depression is associated with reduced outcome sensitivity rather than altered learning rate. Previous findings reported in this domain mainly from binary learning tasks seem to generalize to learning from continuous outcomes.PMID:37706290 | DOI:10.1017/S0033291723002520

Early-life participation in cognitively stimulating activities and risk of depression and anxiety in late life
CONCLUSIONS: More frequent participation in cognitively stimulating activities during early life was associated with reduced risk of late-life depression.PMID:37706289 | DOI:10.1017/S0033291723002702

Using a convex ostomy appliance to manage peristomal skin complications: introducing Aura Plus Soft Convex
This article explores convex stoma appliances, introduces Aura Plus Soft Convex (CliniMed) and presents three case studies of its use. Convexity applies pressure to flatten uneven peristomal skin and form an effective adhesive seal, as well as increase protrusion of a poorly spouted stoma. This reduces the risk of leaks and peristomal skin damage, as well as minimising accessory use. Excess pressure can damage the skin, so convexity should be used with caution at the appropriate depth and firmness for the ostomate's body profile and stomal complications. Aura Plus Soft Convex has a soft and flexible baseplate for easy appl...

Timed intercourse for couples trying to conceive
CONCLUSIONS: The new evidence presented in this review update shows that timed intercourse using urine ovulation tests probably improves live birth and pregnancy rates (clinical or positive urine pregnancy tests but not yet confirmed by ultrasound) in women under 40, trying to conceive for less than 12 months, compared to intercourse without ovulation prediction. However, there are insufficient data to determine the effects of urine ovulation tests on adverse events, clinical pregnancy, time to pregnancy, and quality of life. Similarly, due to limited data, we are uncertain of the effect of FABM on pregnancy outcomes, adve...

Reporting of Rehabilitation Outcomes in the Traumatic Lower Limb Amputation Literature: A Systematic Review
CONCLUSION: The study provides a list of outcome indicators explicitly published for adults with traumatic LLA, highlighting inconsistent reporting of outcome indicators. The lack of a standardized set of outcome measures is a barrier to performing meta-analyses on interventions, preventing the identification of effective care models and clinical pathways. Developing a core outcome set (COS) consisting of minimum outcome measures deemed necessary for clinical decision-making may address this issue.PMID:37708929 | DOI:10.1016/j.apmr.2023.08.028

Facets of social problem-solving as moderators of the real-time relation between social rejection and negative affect in an at-risk sample
Behav Res Ther. 2023 Sep 2;169:104398. doi: 10.1016/j.brat.2023.104398. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTSocial rejection predicts negative affect, and theoretical work suggests that problem-solving deficits strengthen this relation in real-time. Nevertheless, few studies have explicitly tested this relation, particularly in samples at risk for suicide. This may be particularly important as social rejection and negative affect are significant predictors of suicide. The aim of the current study was to examine whether cognitive (i.e., perceiving problems as threats) and behavioral (i.e., avoidance) facets of problem-solving def...
