Assistive Technology-Based Analysis of Students' Foreign Language Anxiety Using Distributed Machine Learning and Intelligent Affective Computing
J Autism Dev Disord. 2023 Sep 11. doi: 10.1007/s10803-023-06125-0. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTLanguage learning anxiety is one of the most important affective variables affecting the effect of language learning. Sensor technologies involve devices that generate a digital output based on the detection of some physical phenomenon in terms of events or changes in a relevant environment. In this work, we propose an effective computing model. Through the research on the classification of emotions and dimensional space theory, combined with the actual learning emotions of learners in the flipped classroom teaching mode, it pr...

Psychological consequences of a diagnosis of infertility in men: a systematic analysis
Asian J Androl. 2023 Aug 22. doi: 10.4103/aja202334. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAlmost half of infertility cases involve male infertility. Understanding the consequence of a diagnosis of male infertility, as a sole or partial contributor to the couples' infertility, to the mental health of men is required to ensure clinical care meets their psychological needs. The aim of this systematic analysis was to synthesize the evidence regarding whether men diagnosed with male factor infertility experience greater psychological distress than (1) men described as fertile and (2) men in couples with other infertility diagnoses. On...

Internalizing and externalizing behaviors in high school adolescents in a northern border city of Mexico and their type of family
CONCLUSIONS: We detected a moderate prevalence of internalizing behaviors in Mexican adolescents, predominantly among women, and also observed that not living with a nuclear family increases the odds of presenting internalizing behaviors. It is important that parents, teachers, and healthcare workers remain vigilant to detect these problems in a timely manner and develop interventions to improve the mental health and well-being of adolescents.PMID:37696116 | DOI:10.1016/j.aprim.2023.102743

J Sleep Res. 2023 Sep 10:e14040. doi: 10.1111/jsr.14040. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTTreating insomnia during pregnancy improves sleep and depressed mood. However, given well-established links between poor sleep and a broad spectrum of adverse maternal outcomes, the benefits of insomnia care may reach beyond sleep and depression. The present study evaluated the preliminary efficacy of 'Perinatal Understanding of Mindful Awareness for Sleep' (PUMAS)-a mindfulness sleep programme tailored to pregnancy that combines behavioural sleep strategies and meditation-for enhancing everyday mindfulness and maternal-fetal attachment,...

The interplay of physical and cognitive function in rehabilitation of interstitial lung disease patients: a narrative review
CONCLUSIONS: Numerous underlying etiologies of ILD contribute to frailty, skeletal muscle and cognitive function, but their respective neurobiologic mechanisms require further investigation. Exercise training increases physical measures, but complementary approaches may improve their applicability to improve daily activities.PMID:37691666 | PMC:PMC10482628 | DOI:10.21037/jtd-23-209

Relationship between serum Th1/Th2 imbalance and depression in elderly patients with COPD and its clinical implications
CONCLUSION: Elderly patients with COPD and depression had reduced pulmonary function and higher serum Th1/Th2 levels, and an imbalance in serum Th1/Th2 indicators was a potential risk factor for depression. Moreover, elderly patients with COPD and depression were at a higher risk of disease progression and had a worse prognosis. Thus, an imbalance in serum Th1/Th2 indicators is a potential prognostic factor for evaluating depression in patients with COPD.PMID:37694327 | DOI:10.3233/THC-230665

Impact on mental health, disease management, and socioeconomic modifications in hematological patients during the COVID-19 pandemic in Italy
CONCLUSION: During the initial phase of the COVID-19 pandemic, hematological patients had elevated levels of depression, anxiety, and stress compared with the general population. The delay in their treatment and employment status played a role in their mental health outcomes. These findings emphasize the importance of further research to gain deeper insight into the long-term psychological effects and explore effective strategies for managing mental health in similar crises.PMID:37693118 | PMC:PMC10483981 | DOI:10.1177/20406207231190683

Transition readiness and anxiety among adolescents with a chronic condition and their parents: A cross-sectional international study
