Selection for antimicrobial prophylaxis in emergency and elective transurethral procedures: Susceptibility pattern in T ürkiye
CONCLUSION: We found that currently recommended antimicrobials provide poor coverage for the most common pathogens isolated. Urologists should consider patient-based antibiotic prophylaxis in endoscopic urethral procedures, follow appropriate proto-cols, and consider local antibiotic resistance.PMID:37681729 | DOI:10.14744/tjtes.2023.99663

Elevated HbA1c level associated with disease severity and surgical extension in diabetic foot patients
CONCLUSION: The results of this study showed that as HbA1c values at diagnosis increased in patients with diabetic foot; Wagner/PEDIS grades, disease severity, surgical extension, amputation level, and tissue loss increased. To reduce the severity of diabetic foot disease and prevent amputation, compliance with diabetic treatment and glycemic control should be increased.PMID:37681727 | DOI:10.14744/tjtes.2023.08939

Role of transcription factor FOXM1 in diabetes and its complications (Review)
Int J Mol Med. 2023 Nov;52(5):101. doi: 10.3892/ijmm.2023.5304. Epub 2023 Sep 8.ABSTRACTDiabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disease commonly associated with complications such as cardiovascular disease, nephropathy and neuropathy, the incidence of which is increasing yearly. Transcription factor forkhead box M1 (FOXM1) serves an important role in development of diabetes and its complications. The present study aimed to review the association between FOXM1 with pathogenesis of diabetes and its complications. FOXM1 may be involved in development and progression of diabetes and its complications by regulating cell biolog...

Proteome analysis, bioinformatic prediction and experimental evidence revealed immune response down-regulation function for serum-starved human fibroblasts
CONCLUSION: Under serum starvation-induced metabolic stress, both PBMCs and fibroblasts produced molecules like heat shock proteins and amyloid-beta, which can have pathogenic roles in auto-inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, type 1 diabetes mellitus, systemic lupus erythematosus, aging, and cancer. However, starved fibroblasts showed immunosuppressive activity in an in vitro model of allogeneic transplantation, suggesting their potential to modify such adverse reactions by down-regulating the immune system.PMID:37674821 | PMC:PMC10477462 | DOI:10.1016/j.heliyon.2023.e19238
