The relationship between results of coronary angiography, Mediterranean-type lifestyle, type D personality, and healthy life expectancy
CONCLUSION: The evidence-based recommendations for a Mediterranean-type lifestyle stated in cardiovascular disease (CVD) preventative guidelines may have a positive effect on the prevention of CVD, disability-free life, and mortality.PMID:37677937 | DOI:10.24875/CIRU.22000443

Benefits of Soybean in the Era of Precision Medicine: A Review of Clinical Evidence
J Microbiol Biotechnol. 2023 Aug 28;33(12):1-11. doi: 10.4014/jmb.2308.08016. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTSoybean (Glycine max) is an important ingredient of cuisines worldwide. While there is a wealth of evidence that soybean could be a good source of macronutrients and phytochemicals with healthpromoting effects, concerns regarding adverse effects have been raised. In this work, we reviewed the current clinical evidence focusing on the benefits and risks of soybean ingredients. In breast, prostate, colorectal, ovarian, and lung cancer, epidemiological studies showed an inverse association between soybean food intake an...

Masoprocol: a promising candidate for targeting insulin resistance by inhibiting resistin with optimal druglikeness Potentials: an < em > in silico < /em > approach
This study was conducted to screen the clinically approved drugs to find the most potent one to inhibit resistin with the best pharmacokinetics and drug-likeness properties. A total of 4654 clinically approved drugs were docked against the Cys22 residue of resistin. The top ten drugs with the highest high-precision (XP) docking scores were selected. Ioversol and masoprocol showed the highest XP docking and Molecular Mechanics-Generalized Born Surface Area (MMGBSA) scores, respectively, with double hydrogen bonding with the targeted Cys22. Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations showed that the masoprocol-resistin complex exhib...

Detection of diabetic patients in people with normal fasting glucose using machine learning
CONCLUSIONS: DRING was demonstrated to perform well on identifying the diabetes individuals among populations with NFG, which could aid in early diagnosis and interventions for those individuals who are most likely missed.PMID:37674168 | PMC:PMC10483877 | DOI:10.1186/s12916-023-03045-9

Implications of lifestyle changes on the incidence of childhood obesity - a systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: An overall balanced diet, parental awareness pertaining to BMI and physical activity in children were the three major factors influencing a child's obesity levels. However, more studies are needed in this regard so as to ascertain a complete, holistic treatment plan that can further validate the implementation of our findings.PMID:37667948 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202308_33424

Predictive performance of CHA2DS2-VASc-HS score and Framingham risk scores for coronary disease severity in ischemic heart disease patients with invasive coronary angiography
CONCLUSIONS: Our study demonstrated a high predictive performance of coronary artery injury using the CHA2DS2-VASc-HS score and Framingham risk scores. These scores could be applied in predicting ischemic heart disease in non-symptomatic cases where invasive coronary angiography is not indicated.GRAPHICAL ABSTRACT: https://www.europeanreview.org/wp/wp-content/uploads/Graphical-abstract-4.jpg.PMID:37667940 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202308_33415

Association Between Metabolic Syndrome and Mortality: Prospective Cohort Study
CONCLUSIONS: Our study provides additional evidence that MetS and its components are significantly associated with all-cause, heart disease, and diabetes mortality, but not with cancer mortality. Health care professionals should pay more attention to MetS and its individual component.PMID:37669100 | DOI:10.2196/44073

Diabetes and factors associated with cognitive and functional decline. The screening for CKD among older people across Europe (SCOPE) study
CONCLUSION: Decline in functional and cognitive status of community-dwelling older adults with DM was similar to participants without DM in a short period of 2 years of follow-up, though several clinical factors may increase its risk in this population.PMID:37668841 | DOI:10.1007/s40520-023-02536-2

Placenta-derived exosomal miR-135a-5p promotes gestational diabetes mellitus pathogenesis by activating PI3K/AKT signalling pathway via SIRT1
In this study, we looked into how placental exosomes and their miRNAs may contribute to GDM. When compared to exosomes from healthy pregnant women, it was discovered that miR-135a-5p was elevated in placenta-derived exosomes that were isolated from the maternal peripheral plasma of GDM women. Additionally, we discovered that miR-135a-5p encouraged HTR-8/SVneo cell growth, invasion and migration. Further research revealed that miR-135a-5p activates HTR-8/SVneo cells' proliferation, invasion and migration by promoting PI3K/AKT pathway activity via Sirtuin 1 (SIRT1). The transfer of exosomal miR-135a-5p generated from the pla...
