Exploring diet-induced promoter hypomethylation and PDK4 overexpression: implications for type 2 diabetes mellitus
CONCLUSIONS: These findings suggest that T2DM can be induced by high-carbohydrate and high-MSG diets. However, the sole consumption of high MSG did not lead to the development of T2DM. Further research should focus on conducting long-term studies to fully comprehend the impact of a high MSG diet on individuals with pre-existing T2DM.PMID:37707772 | DOI:10.1007/s11033-023-08794-7

Non-linear relationship between serum osteocalcin and diabetic retinopathy in postmenopausal women with type 2 diabetes mellitus
CONCLUSION: In conclusion, among postmenopausal women with T2DM, OC levels showed a non-linear relationship with DR. Optimal OC levels (15.0-25.3 ng/ml) were associated with minimal DR occurrence, while risk was constant below 11.1 ng/ml or above 25.3 ng/ml. Maintaining optimal OC levels may reduce DR risk in this population.PMID:37709110 | DOI:10.1016/j.cca.2023.117552

SGLT2 and SGLT1 inhibitors suppress the activities of the RVLM neurons in newborn Wistar rats
In this study, we examined the effects of SGLT2 and SGLT1 inhibitors on the bulbospinal neurons of the rostral ventrolateral medulla (RVLM). To investigate whether bulbospinal RVLM neurons are sensitive to SGLT2 and SGLT1 inhibitors, we examined the changes in the neuronal membrane potentials (MPs) of these neurons using the whole-cell patch-clamp technique during superfusion of the cells with the SGLT2 and SGLT1 inhibitors. A brainstem-spinal cord preparation was used for the experiments. Our results showed that superfusion of the RVLM neurons with SGLT2 and SGLT1 inhibitor solutions induced hyperpolarization of the neuro...

Letrozole During Frozen Embryo Transfer in Women With Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome: A Randomized Controlled Trial
CONCLUSION: There was no difference in pregnancy outcomes between letrozole application compared with artificial cycle for endometrial preparation in women with PCOS who underwent FET. The risk of GDM was higher in the letrozole application group, and the singleton birth weight was lower in the artificial cycle group.CLINICAL TRIAL REGISTRATION: Chinese Clinical Trial Registry, ChiCTR1800014746.PMID:37708500 | DOI:10.1097/AOG.0000000000005367

Association between different modalities of insulin administration and metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease in adults with type 1 diabetes mellitus
CONCLUSION: The lower prevalence of MAFLD with coexisting significant fibrosis we observed in adults with T1DM using CSII therapy, compared to those using MDI therapy, is primarily mediated by inter-group differences in age.PMID:37708990 | DOI:10.1016/j.diabet.2023.101477

Risk factors for postpartum urinary incontinence: The impact of early-onset and late-onset Gestational Diabetes Mellitus in a nested case-control study
CONCLUSION: After a planned C-section, we observed a 6-18 months postpartum UI higher occurrence after GDM, either in early-onset GDM or late-onset GDM. In addition, being overweight (BMI > 25) among women with early-onset GDM was associated with postpartum UI.PMID:37708658 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejogrb.2023.09.007

Impact of obesity on female puberty and pubertal disorders
Best Pract Res Clin Obstet Gynaecol. 2023 Aug 10;91:102400. doi: 10.1016/j.bpobgyn.2023.102400. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe worldwide epidemic of obesity appears to be one of the crucial health problems. One-third of children and adolescents in the United States are classified as either overweight or obese and 6% of adolescents are severely obese. With the development of high technology, children, and adolescents, spend more time in sedentary life. Together with the availability of consuming fast caloric food, it is almost unavoidable to get an imbalance between caloric intake and caloric expenditure of energy, resul...

Increased Circulating IL-32 is Associated with Placenta Macrophage-derived IL-32 and Gestational Diabetes Mellitus
CONCLUSIONS: Increased circulating IL-32 throughout pregnancy was closely associated with placenta macrophage-derived IL-32 expression and GDM. First trimester IL-32 level in peripheral blood may serve to predict the development of GDM.PMID:37708356 | DOI:10.1210/clinem/dgad531

Inflammation and oxidative stress markers in type 2 diabetes patients with Advanced Carotid atherosclerosis
CONCLUSION: Our study is in line with a key role for inflammation in the pathogenesis of diabetic atherosclerosis and highlights the involvement of 2-AA-LPC. Further research is needed to better understand the local processes involved in the alteration of plaque composition in T2DM and to identify potential therapeutic targets.TRIAL REGISTRATION: The MASCADI was registered on ClinicalTrials.gov (clinical registration number: NCT03202823).PMID:37710315 | DOI:10.1186/s12933-023-01979-1
