Association of participants who screened positive for night eating syndrome with physical health, sleep problems, and weight status in an Australian adult population
CONCLUSIONS: Several physical health problems were found to be significantly associated with the spNES group including sleep problems, increased BMI, increased levels of pain and lower self-reported physical health-related quality of life. Consequently, future research exploring the complex interaction between NES and these medical conditions may provide further insight into the diagnosis, screening tools and management of NES. Additionally, this study highlights the need for future studies which use larger population-based samples.LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: Level III. Evidence obtained from well-designed cohort or case-control an...

Efficacy of TACE Combined with Lenvatinib Plus Sintilimab for Hepatocellular Carcinoma with Tumor Thrombus in the Inferior Vena Cava and/or Right Atrium
CONCLUSION: TACE combination with lenvatinib plus sintilimab is effective in treating HCC with IVC and/or RA TT. The toxicities were manageable, with no unexpected safety signals. The baseline levels of serum PCT might be the predictive biomarkers for the triple combination therapy.PMID:37724186 | PMC:PMC10505388 | DOI:10.2147/JHC.S410967

Early cardiac function and death, severe bronchopulmonary dysplasia and pulmonary hypertension in extremely preterm infants
CONCLUSIONS: In extremely premature infants, altered ventricular function and increased pulmonary pressure indices within the first 21 days after birth, were associated with the combined outcome of death/severe BPD and death/BPD-related PH.IMPACT: Decreased cardiac function on echocardiography performed during first three weeks of life is associated with severe bronchopulmonary dysplasia in extremely premature infants. In extreme preterm infants, echocardiographic signs of pulmonary hypertension in early life are associated with later BPD-related pulmonary hypertension close to 36 weeks post-menstrual age. Early cardiac ma...

Transient left bundle branch block associated with very high coronary artery calcium: a case report
We present a case of very high CAC in a 64-year-old woman with hypertension, type 2 diabetes, and hyperlipidemia presenting with dyspnea. Initial electrocardiogram (ECG) demonstrated normal conduction with a heart rate of 76 beats/min, but new T-wave inversions in V1-V4 and a high-sensitivity troponin-I (hsTnI) value of 6 ng/L (normal < 6 ng/L). Repeat ECG in the emergency department showed normal sinus rhythm (heart rate of 80 beats/min); however, it subsequently demonstrated a left bundle branch block (LBBB) with a repeat hsTnI of 7 ng/L. Stress testing with pharmacologic single-photon emission computerized tomography...

Technical considerations and long-term results of endovascular venous stenting to control venous hypertension from meningiomas invading intracranial venous sinuses
CONCLUSIONS: In patients who are symptomatic with meningiomas obstructing the venous sinuses, successful stenting of the affected segment can give a good outcome, especially in terms of relieving papilledema. However, further procedures are often necessary to maintain stent patency, other areas of venous compromise frequently coexist, and some patients remain symptomatic despite apparently successful treatment of the index lesion. Long-term surveillance is a requirement.PMID:37724796 | DOI:10.3171/2023.6.JNS23607
