Effect of the magnetic core in alginate/gum composite on adsorption of divalent copper, cadmium, and lead ions in the aqueous system
Int J Biol Macromol. 2023 Sep 12:126884. doi: 10.1016/j.ijbiomac.2023.126884. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe change of composition of an adsorbent material has been widely used as a method to increase its adsorption capacity, particularly concerning adsorbents made of polysaccharides. Introducing magnetic adsorbents into contaminated water treatment systems is a highly promising strategy, as it promotes the metal ions removal from water. Considering this, gum Arabic (GA) was associated with alginate (Alg), when magnetite nanoparticles were present or absent, to produce beads that were utilised to take up Cu(II), Cd(II),...

An ultrasensitive J-shaped optical fiber LSPR aptasensor for the detection of Helicobacter pylori
In this study, an originally bent structure, named as J-shaped optical fiber probe, was first designed to engineer a localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) aptamer biosensor for the rapid and ultrasensitive detection of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori). The J-shaped optical fiber probe exhibited a significant improvement in refractive index sensitivity (RIS) and LSPR signal response. Meantime, the original sequence of aptamer was truncated in order to effectively capture H. pylori on the optical fiber surface. Besides, a spacer nucleic acid with short stem-loop structure was adopted to control the aptamer density on gol...

Stepwise Au decoration-assisted double signal amplified lateral flow strip for ultrasensitive detection of morphine in fingerprint sweat
In this study, ultrasensitive and non-invasive screening of MOP residues in the fingerprint sweat was easily realized by stepwise Au decoration-assisted double signal amplification and antibody-saving strategies on lateral flow strip (LFS). The construction of LFS was not intrinsically changed compared with traditional LFS except the labeling material on conjugation pad for enhanced signal reporting. The gold nanoparticle-seeded SiO2 was adopted as the labeling materials in place of traditional gold nanoparticles, which acted as the first-round signal amplification and ready for second-round gold deposition-assisted amplif...
