Altered microRNA expression in patients with sarcoidosis
Conclusion This is the first miRNA report of differentially expressed miRNAs in the serum of patients with sarcoidosis and matched healthy controls in South Africa. The results obtained suggest that miRNAs may play a role in sarcoidosis pathogenesis. Whether these molecules have diagnostic or prognostic implications, needs future studies recruiting larger patient cohorts.PMID:37712378 | DOI:10.36141/svdld.v40i3.13399

Serum ‑derived exosomal hsa‑let‑7b‑5p as a biomarker for predicting the severity of coronary stenosis in patients with coronary heart disease and hyperglycemia
In conclusion, the present study demonstrated that serum‑derived exosomal hsa‑let‑7b‑5p is upregulated in patients with CHD and hyperglycemia, and may serve as a noninvasive biomarker for the severity of coronary stenosis.PMID:37711034 | DOI:10.3892/mmr.2023.13090

The macrophage polarization by miRNAs and its potential role in the treatment of tumor and inflammation (Review)
Oncol Rep. 2023 Oct;50(4):190. doi: 10.3892/or.2023.8627. Epub 2023 Sep 15.ABSTRACTThe characteristics of monocyte/macrophage lineage are diversity and plasticity, mainly manifested by M1 and M2 subtypes in the body tissues, and playing different roles in the immunity. In the polarization process of macrophages, the classic molecular mechanism is related to sequential transcription factors. Whether in tumor or inflammatory local microenvironment, the pathological factors of the local microenvironment often affect the polarization of M1 and M2 macrophages, and participate in the occurrence and development of these pathologi...

The Dual Role of Non-coding RNAs in the Development of Periodontitis
Biomed Environ Sci. 2023 Aug 20;36(8):743-755. doi: 10.3967/bes2023.079.ABSTRACTThis review aims to sum up how Non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) regulate the development of periodontitis and provides a new perspective for understanding the pathogenesis of periodontitis. We explored the ncRNA's dual role in the development of periodontitis by summarizing evidence from previous in vivo and in vitro studies as well as clinical samples. In our review, the downregulation of 18 miRNAs, 22 lncRNAs and 10 circRNAs demonstrates protective roles in periodontitis. In contrast, the expression of other 11 miRNAs, 7 lncRNAs and 6 circRNAs are up...

Secretome Derived from Mesenchymal Stem/Stromal Cells: A Promising Strategy for Diabetes and its Complications
Curr Stem Cell Res Ther. 2023 Sep 13. doi: 10.2174/1574888X19666230913154544. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTDiabetes is a complex metabolic disease with a high global prevalence. The health and quality of life of patients with diabetes are threatened by many complications, including diabetic foot ulcers, diabetic kidney diseases, diabetic retinopathy, and diabetic peripheral neuropathy. The application of mesenchymal stem/stromal cells (MSCs) in cell therapies has been recognized as a potential treatment for diabetes and its complications. MSCs were originally thought to exert biological effects exclusively by differentiat...
