Exposure to sublethal concentrations of thiacloprid insecticide modulated the expression of microRNAs in honeybees (Apis mellifera L.)
This study aimed to investigate the sublethal effects of thiacloprid on microRNA (miRNA) expression in honeybees (Apis mellifera L.) and the role of a specific miRNA, ame-miR-283-5p, in thiacloprid resistance. The high-throughput small RNA-sequencing was used to analyze global miRNA expression profile changes in honeybees orally exposed to sublethal concentrations of thiacloprid (20 mg/L and 4 mg/L) for 72 h. Thiacloprid at 20 mg/L had no observed adverse effects. In addition, bees were fed with miRNA mimics or inhibitors to increase or decrease ame-miR-283-5p expression, and its effects on P450 gene expression (CYP9Q2 and...

miRNAs and Multiple Myeloma: Focus on the Pathogenesis, Prognosis, and Drug Resistance
Technol Cancer Res Treat. 2023 Jan-Dec;22:15330338231202391. doi: 10.1177/15330338231202391.ABSTRACTMultiple myeloma (MM) produces clonal plasma cells and aberrant monoclonal antibody accumulation in patients' bone marrow (BM). Around 1% of all cancers and 13% of hematological malignancies are caused by MM, making it one of the most common types of cancer. Diagnostic and therapeutic methods for managing MM are currently undergoing extensive research. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are short noncoding RNAs that reduce or inhibit the translation of their target mRNA after transcription. Because miRNAs play an influential role in how mye...

Exosomal miRNAs as Next-generation Therapy Vehicles in Breast Cancer
Curr Gene Ther. 2023;23(5):330-342. doi: 10.2174/1566523223666230215103524.ABSTRACTThe second most pervasive cancer affecting the survival of women across the world is breast cancer. One of the biggest challenges in breast cancer treatment is the chemoresistance of cancer cells to various medications after some time. Therefore, highly specific blood-based biomarkers are required for early breast cancer diagnosis to overcome chemoresistance and improve patient survival. These days, exosomal miRNAs have attracted much attention as early diagnostic blood-based biomarkers because of their high stability, secretion from maligna...

miRNA contributes to neuropathic pains
Int J Biol Macromol. 2023 Sep 18:126893. doi: 10.1016/j.ijbiomac.2023.126893. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTNeuropathic pain (NP) is a kind of chronic pain caused by direct injury to the peripheral or central nervous system (CNS). microRNAs (miRNAs) are small noncoding RNAs that mostly interact with the 3 untranslated region of messenger RNAs (mRNAs) to regulate the expression of multiple genes. NP is characterized by changes in the expression of receptors and mediators, and there is evidence that miRNAs may contribute to some of these alterations. In this review, we aimed to fully comprehend the connection between NP and ...

Loss of Dicer in newborn melanocytes leads to premature hair greying and changes in integrin expression.
Premature hair greying occurs due to the depletion of melanocyte stem cells (McSCs) in the hair follicle, which can be accelerated by stress caused by genetic or environmental factors. However, the connection between stress and McSC loss is not fully understood. MiRNAs are molecules that control gene expression by regulating mRNA stability and translation, and are produced by the enzyme Dicer, which is repressed under stress. Here, using two mouse genetic models and human and mouse cell lines, we found that the inactivation of Dicer in melanocytes leads to a misplacement of these cells within the hair follicle, resulting i...

Integrated omics and machine learning-assisted profiling of cysteine-rich-receptor-like kinases from three peanut spp. revealed their role in multiple stresses
This study conducts a pangenome-wide investigation of A. hypogaea and its two progenitors, A. duranensis and A. ipaensis CRK genes (AhCRKs, AdCRKs, and AiCRKs). The gene structure, conserved motif patterns, phylogenetic history, chromosomal distribution, and duplication were studied in detail, showing the intraspecies structural conservation and evolutionary patterns. Promoter cis-elements, protein–protein interactions, GO enrichment, and miRNA targets were also predicted, showing their potential functional conservation. Their expression in salt and drought stresses was also comprehensively studied. The CRKs identified w...

Role of S100 and YKL40 on Intraventricular Cerebral Hemorrhages in the Preterm Infant and the Neuroprotective Role of miR-138-siRNAs-HIF-1a and miR-21-siRNAs-HVCN1 in Neonatal Mice with Nerve Injury
CONCLUSION: Our findings demonstrate that miR-138-siRNAs-HIF-1a and miR-21-siRNAs-HVCN1 injections prevent cerebral ischemia-induced brain damage in hypoxia mice by increasing HVCN1 and HIF-1a and decreasing S100b, which in turn lessens apoptosis and epilepsy in hypoxic mice.PMID:37724672 | DOI:10.2174/0929867331666230915103147

MicroRNAs in equine Endometritis: A review of pathophysiology and molecular insights for diagnostic and therapeutic strategies
Int Immunopharmacol. 2023 Sep 17;124(Pt B):110949. doi: 10.1016/j.intimp.2023.110949. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTEndometritis plays an important role in mare infertility. Certain infectious agents interfere with the innate immune system of endometrium, causing a systemic inflammatory response that lasts for a long time and circulates via the blood or cellular degeneration, leading to endometritis due to bacterial endotoxins. Different small, non-coding RNA molecules are involved in many biological functions. For instance, microRNAs (miRNAs) are involved in the post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression. These mi...

Pre-operative Neo-adjuvant Chemotherapy Related miRNAs as Key Regulators and Therapeutic Targets in Colorectal Cancer
CONCLUSION: In patients with colorectal cancer, miRNA expression in the tumoral regions before and after neoadjuvant therapy has represented a variable pattern. It has been shown that miRNA studies can be used to predict the clinical course and response to treatment with differences in expression levels. It has been concluded that specific miRNAs may be candidate biomarkers for colorectal cancer.PMID:37723961 | DOI:10.2174/1874609816666230816152744

Effect of miR-18a-5p, miR-19a-3p, and miR-20a-5p on < em > In Vitro < /em > Cardiomyocyte Differentiation of Human Endometrium Tissue-Derived Stem Cells Through Regulation of Smad4 Expression
CONCLUSION: Our results indicate that miR-18a-5p, miR-19a-3p, and miR-20a-5p are involved in the cardiac differentiation propensity of hEMSCs potentially by regulation of Smad levels. Although, more mechanistic experiments are required to confirm this idea.PMID:37724150 | PMC:PMC10505458 | DOI:10.52547/rbmb.12.1.136
